1. Check the product for visible damage and wear:
– Silicone surface intact, no tears, holes, kinks etc.
– Connector not broken or corroded
– Discolorations on the silicone surface are harmless.
If damaged, do not use this product!

Overview of validated procedures

The following procedures have been validated as suitable for
processing the product:
• Cleaning by machine and disinfection in a Uniclean PL-II 15-
2-EL disinfector (MMM GmbH, Munich, Germany) with the
cleaning agent neodisher mediclean forte (Dr. Weigert
GmbH & Co. KG, Hamburg, Germany).
– neodisher mediclean forte: Dosage 0.5%, 5 minutes ex-
posure time at 55 °C
– Disinfection: 5 minutes at 90 °C.

Monitoring of the neutral electrode by the

electrosurgical unit

Erbe VIO electrosurgical units are equipped with a Neutral Elec-
trode Safety System (NESSY), which monitors the neutral elec-
trode, warns of critical situations, and thus prevents burns. Ob-
serve the unit's optical and acoustic warning signals. Observe the
error and advisory messages from neutral electrode monitoring.
With this neutral electrode type, the electrosurgical unit moni-
tors three safety-related parameters:
• the connection with the electrosurgical unit
• the contact to the patient's skin
• the application direction of the neutral electrode (NESSY
symmetry monitoring)
