9. In this position the prestroke dimension is indicated
on the dial gauge. The specified prestroke dimen-
sion or the specified start-of-delivery value can be
adjusted, depending on the injection pump model,
by an adjusting screw, spacer plates of varying thick-
nesses, by exchanging the rollers or rotating the
barrel-and-valve assembly.
10. Once the specified start of delivery has been
reached, set the angle indicator of the control
panel to zero.Close the screw plug for the start-of-
delivery elbow.
11. Repeat the process for the next cylinder in the
injection sequence.
The corresponding number of degrees is as follows:
$
3-cylinder pump every 120 degrees
$
4-cylinder pump every 90 degrees
$
5-cylinder pump every 72 degrees
$
6-cylinder pump every 60 degrees
$
8-cylinder pump every 45 degrees
$
10-cylinder pump every 36 degrees
$
12-cylinder pump every 30 degrees
The start of delivery for the corresponding cylinders
must occur at the corresponding number of degrees.
Deviation from the above-mentioned number of degrees
corresponds to the cam offset of the particular cylinder.
For certain injection pump models (e.g. ZWM Stage II)
the prestroke must be set on each cylinder.
When the injection pump has been set, switch over or
switch off the calibration-fluid high pressure and con-
nect the calibration-fluid return line.

Checking start of delivery for distribu-
tor pumps with prestroke specifications
The T-bar used to rotate the flywheel by
hand must not be left inserted in the
locating holes of the flywheel!
Always remove the T-bar before starting!
Never hold your hand anywhere near the
danger zone around the flywheel!
1. Checking start of delivery for distributor pumps with
prestroke specifications
2. Voltage is supplied to the solenoid valve of the injec-
tion pump by the connection cables.
3. Screw the prestroke measuring device with the ap-
propriate extension and dial gauge into the central
screw plug.Manually crank the distributor injection
pump with the T-bar inserted in the flywheel until
the distributor piston is at bottom dead centre. Then
pretension the dial gauge to 4 mm.
4. Crank the distributor pump by hand until the distrib-
utor piston is at bottom dead centre again. Set the
dial gauge to zero.
5. Set the oil supply to the appropriate low pressure by
rotating the handwheel on the control valve in a clock-
wise direction. The pressure in the supply line can
be read off on the low-pressure gauge. Calibration
fluid flows out of the overflow pipe on the measuring
device. Slowly rotate the drive shaft in the direction of
rotation until start of delivery has been reached. Start
of delivery has been reached when one drop per sec-
ond flows out of the overflow pipe. Read off the dial
gauge and compare with the setpoint value indicated
on the test sheet. Correct any deviations below the
piston flow using the appropriate shims.
