is the same as the procedure with DS auto-darkening
filter including a few additional steps. GDS ADF has
the external control panel which has to be carefully
placed to the space on the inner side of the hood
shell. After placing the ADF into the right place and
closing it with the external frame cover, follow these
steps:
1. Pull the control panel through the hole from the
inside of the hood.
2. Place the control panel on the right place from the
outside of the hood.
3. Place the plastic counterpart of the control panel
on its place and fix it with 4 screws.
Protection plate replacement
1. Remove the external frame by squeezing two
pins inside the hood and pushing it out.
2. Grasp the protection plate in order to bend it
little bit and release it from holder slots.
3. Insert a new protection plate and close it with
external frame.
Hard hat assembly
If you have purchased the CA-20 welding hood in
combination with hard hat, the hard hat adaptor
will be replacing the standard headgear. Each of
the two hard hat adaptor parts are marked with L
(left) and R (right).
1. Loosen the nuts on both sides of the hood shell.
2. Remove the standard headgear.
3. Place the hard hat adaptors on the correct si-
des and push the screws through rectangular
opening in the hood shell. Put the pin for the tilt
adjustment in one of the three holes in the hood
shell. Choose the right tilt adjustment hole for
your maximum comfort.
4. Tighten the nut on the screw.
5. Insert the wedges of the hard hat adaptor into
the hard hat slots. Make sure that the lower lat-
ches of the hard hat adaptor have stuck over
the edges of the hard hat.
6. The headgear of the hard hat can be adjusted
by turning the rear wheel in order to fit any head
size. Press the wheel and hold it while turning,
release the wheel when reaching the position
of maximum comfort, so that it will lock in the
required position.
7. The two springs of the hard hat adaptor hold the
hood in two extreme positions: up and down.

6. Storage and shelf life
Store the welding hood in a dry and clean place
at room temperature, avoid direct sunlight. Prolon-
ged exposure to temperatures above 45 °C may
decrease the battery lifetime of the auto-darkening
welding filter. It is recommended to keep the solar
cells of the auto-darkening welding filter in the dark
or not exposed to light during storage in order to
maintain power down mode. This can be achieved
by simply placing the filter face down on the sto-
rage shelf.
