1. Determine the Installation Configuration
IMPORTANT! If your installation configuration includes a transom, use the installation instructions packed with
the transom assembly.
- Determine which side of the shower opening the operating panel will hinge from. This is customer preference.
NOTE: The door must hinge directly off the expander jamb attached to the wall.
- Determine if this is a steam door installation. If it is a steam door, the height (distance A) must be between 76"
(193cm) and 76 1/2" (194.3cm). The height for non steam door installations must be 76" (193cm) or greater.
2. Measure and Cut the Expander Jambs and Cover Strips
CAUTION: Risk of injury. Wear safety glasses while cutting materials.
Steam Installation
- Carefully measure the height (distance A) of the finished opening. Refer to the roughing in sheet to confirm that
the door will fit in the finished opening.
NOTE: If a steel measuring tape is used, be sure to add the width of the measuring tape case to the measurement.
- Cut both the expander jambs and both cover strips to this measurement. For best results, use a 32 tooth per inch
hacksaw blade and a miter box.
Non-Steam Installation
- Cut the expander jambs and the two cover strips to 76" (193cm) in length.
3. Measure and Cut the Header, Header Expander and Threshold
CAUTION: Risk of injury. Wear safety glasses while cutting materials.
- Carefully measure the width (distance B) of the finished opening.
NOTE: If a steel measuring tape is used, be sure to add the width of the measuring tape case to the measurement.
- Subtract 1/2" (1.3cm) from the width measured and cut the header, header expander, and the threshold to this
dimension. For best results, use a 32 tooth per inch hacksaw blade and a miter box.
NOTE: When cutting the header, make sure to cut the end opposite the Kohler logo.
- Use a file to remove any burrs.
