CLEANING THE GLASS

Clean either with a damp cloth or newspaper crumpled in a ball, dampe-
ned and dipped in the ashes, rubbing the glass until it is clean. You can
also use ordinary oven cleaners.
DO NOT clean the glass when the stove is lit.
Do not clean with steel wool or abrasive products in general.
CLEANING THE CERAMIC
The ceramic cladding should be cleaned with a mild detergent and a damp
cloth. Do not wet the hot surfaces with cold water as the thermal shock may
break them. Any cracks on the surface are a normal settling phenomena
of the refractory majolica and are caused by thermal expansion.
They in no way undermine stove operation.

CLEANING THE FLUE

The flue must be cleaned when it is cold and whenever there is soot or a
tarry substance inside it, the latter being highly flammable. When the depo-
sits are 5-6 mm thick they could catch fire if the smoke is very hot and if
there are sparks, damaging the flue and the house.
A cast iron deflector inside the stove forces the smoke to follow a specific
path to take maximum advantage of the heat. Make sure, subsequent to
transportation or removal (for cleaning etc.), it is put back in its original
position. The deflector must only be removed for cleaning the flue.
REPLACING INTERNAL PARTS OF THE HEARTH (Fig. 14).
The internal parts of the hearth can be removed for cleaning or if they need
changing following the progressive order indicated in the drawing. Put the
new parts back in place in the reverse order.

REPLACING THE CERAMIC PANELS (Fig.15)
If the panels are broken accidentally and need replacing pay particular
attention to what is written below. If you do this on your own you will find it
is difficult because of the weight of the ceramic panels. This is why we sug-
gest proceeding in the following way:
(in the case of a connection at the top) 1) Remove the pipe connecting to the
flue. 2) Lift the grid (5) and ceramic top (4). 3) Remove the ceramic (3) pul-
ling it out vertically. 4) Remove the support (2) by unscrewing the check nut
supporting the side (1).
5) Lift the side (1) and replace it, proceeding in the opposite way as under
points 4-3-2-1.
To replace the mantel (3) simply remove the top (4) and then pull the part
our vertically. To replace the front panel of the big drawer (7) simply
unscrew the 4 securing screws, two of which also secure the handle. (8).
