Charging process
– Before using the appliance for the fi rst time
the battery must be fully charged, which
will take about 3 hours. The appliance
can remain on charge for a longer period
without damage or danger, but this should
generally be avoided. With a fully charged
battery, the appliance can be operated for
around 100 minutes.
– As the capacity of the rechargeable battery-
pack becomes low, the touch controls (
/ ) will start fl ashing. The trimmer can
now be used for only a few more minutes
until the deep-discharge protection device
switches the appliance off. Recharging is
now necessary.
– Insert the connecting plug of the adaptor
into the corresponding jack on the
appliance.
– Insert the adaptor itself into a suitable
wall socket. The charging process begins
automatically. The touch controls are
fl ashing alternately while the batteries are
being recharged.
Once the charging process is complete, the
touch controls stay lit. To disconnect the
adaptor, always remove it from the wall socket
fi rst before taking the jack out of the appliance.
The appliance remains in standby mode for
around 10 seconds before it can be switched
on again with the touch controls, or switched
off with the main power switch ( ). (see
'Using the main power switch/touch controls to
turn the trimmer on/off').
– While charging, the transformer within the
adaptor will become warm. This is perfectly
normal and safe and does not indicate a
malfunction of any kind.
– If the appliance has not been used for a
long period, the capacity of the battery may
decrease by a certain amount. However,
full capacity will be restored after several
charge/discharge cycles.
Mains operation
The appliance may also be used when the
adaptor is connected. In this case, use the
touch controls to turn the trimmer on and
allow the batteries to be briefl y charged for
approximately 5 minutes, before the trimmer
can be operated.
