TO TEST THE SYSTEM PRIOR TO USE:
1. With the wires connected, lift the float switch to the
"on" position. After a 3 second delay the pump will
run. The red "pump cycled" light and the alarm will
turn on indicating that your back-up system has been
activated. The alarm warns that either the AC power
is out or the primary pump has failed and needs
attention and that the back-up system is running.
2. To silence the alarm press the "silence alarm" button.
The "silence alarm" button will turn off the alarm
and turn the "alarm off" light on.
3. Lower the float switch to the "off" position and the
pump will stop running after another 3 second delay.
The red "pump cycled" light will flash and the red
"alarm off" light will stay on.
4. Press the "Silence Alarm" button again and the red
"Pump Cycled" light will go off. Should the pump
run again, the red "Pump Cycled" light and alarm
will come back on. This indicates the pump has run
again.
5. To Reset the Entire System: Press both the "test
pump" and "silence alarm" buttons at the same time
or unplug the transformer for 10 seconds.
All lights will come on together briefly for 3 seconds,
while the system is running through it's diagnostic
check. Then either the green "system ready" or the
yellow "charging/AC power" light will come on. See
Table III for additional details on what the control
panel lights and alarms indicate.
IF THE BACK-UP SYSTEM RUNS
WHILE YOU ARE AWAY:
1. The back-up pump will have turned on and then off.
The red "pump cycled" light will be flashing and the
alarm will be beeping. This alarm is to notify you that
your AC power went out or the primary pump failed
and the back-up system has run.
2. To silence the alarm, press the "silence alarm" but-
ton. This will also turn the red "pump cycled" light
off. This is only a soft reset for the alarm and the
pump cycled light. Should the back-up pump run
again, both the alarm and "pump cycled" light will
again turn on.
3. To disable the alarm while working on the system,
perform an entire system reset as explained in step 5
in the above section. After either the green or yellow
light have come on, press the "silence alarm" button
once.
NOTICE: After correcting any problems make sure you
reset the entire system.

CHARGER/BATTERY OPERATION
The backup pump will activate automatically when the
sump water level rises far enough to trip the float switch.
If the power to the transformer and back-up system is
interrupted, the length of time that the backup pump will
run depends on the Ampere-hour capacity of the battery
used, the battery charge level, and the vertical pumping
distance.
Extended periods of operation (for example, during an
extended power outage) may exhaust the battery. Follow
the battery manufacturer's recommendations for the
maintenance and safe use of the battery.
The Stages of the Charging Process:
1. Green "System Ready" light: System is operational
and ready for use.
2. Yellow "Charging/AC Power" light: The battery is
being charged. If needed, the system will run.
3. Red "Pump Cycled" light: Pump has been in opera-
tion. System continues to operate.
BATTERY REQUIREMENTS
Electrical shock hazard. Can cause severe
burns and start a fire if battery terminals are short cir-
cuited. Install the battery in the battery box. To prevent
accidental shorting across the battery terminals, close the
cover of the battery box securely.
Severe burn hazard. May cause personal
injury or property damage. A filled battery contains sulfu-
ric acid. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing.
NOTICE: To protect the battery case from chipping and
gouging, do not let the battery box sit on the concrete
floor. Install the battery box on a shelf or protective pad
(plywood, 2x4s, etc.) a minimum of 18" off of the floor.
Always install the battery in a dry location that is pro-
tected from flooding.
Risk of fire or explosion. Can cause severe
injury, property damage, or death. Battery fumes are
explosive. Place battery in a well ventilated area and
away from open flames such as a pilot light.
Follow the battery manufacturer's recommendations for
maintenance and safe use of battery.
