8.0 TROUBLESHOOTING
Only qualified hydraulic technicians should service the pump or
system components. A system failure is not necessarily the result
of a pump malfunction. To determine the cause of the problem,
the complete system must be considered in any diagnostic
procedure.
The following troubleshooting chart is intended to be used only
as an aid in determining if a problem exists. For repair service,
contact your Enerpac Authorized Service Center.
Problem
Pump does not cycle.
Pump fails to build hydraulic
pressure or builds less than desired
pressure.
Jerky or erratic pump operation.
Excessive moisture in pump exhaust.

TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

Possible Cause
No air pressure at supply.
Pump air-shutoff valve closed.
Pump air pressure regulator set too low.
Pump air filter dirty.
Pump air motor worn or damaged.
Pump element jammed.
Low air pressure or volume at air supply.
Pump air pressure regulator set too low.
Pump air filter dirty.
Pump return-to-tank valve open or not fully closed.
Low oil level in reservoir.
Pump hydraulic filter dirty.
Oil leakage at hydraulic hoses, fittings or tools.
Pump return-to-tank valve leaking.
Pump air motor worn or damaged.
Internal leakage in pump element and/or air motor.
Low air pressure or volume at air supply.
Pump not primed and/or air in hydraulic lines.
Hydraulic oil dirty.
Pump element worn or damaged.
Excessive water and/or lubricant in supply air.
Pump air filter bowl needs draining.
Pump air filter dirty.
Internal leakage in pump element and/or air motor.
Action
Check air supply.
Open pump air-shutoff valve.
Check pressure regulator setting.
Replace air filter element.
Contact Enerpac Authorized Service Center.
Contact Enerpac Authorized Service Center.
Check air supply.
Check regulator setting.
Replace air filter element.
Close return-to-tank valve.
Check oil level. Add oil as required.
Clean or replace hydraulic filter element.
Replace leaking items as required.
Replace return-to-tank valve.
Contact Enerpac Authorized Service Center.
Contact Enerpac Authorized Service Center.
Check air supply.
Prime the pump as described in Section 4.5.
Change hydraulic oil. Use only Enerpac HF oil.
Clean or replace hydraulic filter element.
Contact Enerpac Authorized Service Center.
Reduce moisture in air. Install water separator.
Note: Pump components are self-lubricating.
Lubricated air is not required.
Check bowl for water. Drain as required.
Replace air filter element.
Contact Enerpac Authorized Service Center.
