Micro-Touch® Stabilizer
3. Check to see all FAM controls are set near midpoints of their range of travel.
I. Knob X - Centers probe along midline axis of the prostate and centers the transverse image on grid
II. Knob YR - Rotates probe to parallel with prostate centerline
III. Knob ZR - Levels prostate horizontally on transverse image
IV. Stepper Quick Connect Knob - Secures stepper to FAM
V. Stabilizer interface plate
VI. Knob XR - Tilts probe parallel to the posterior surface of the prostate in the sagittal plane
VII. Knob Z - Used to "zero" the stepping unit at the bladder neck to set the base plane for implantation
VIII. Knob Y - Adjusts image height on grid to define posterior row for seed placement (Located on the outboard end of the rail clamp.)
NOTE: Due to low clearance of sliding tabletop in relation to fixed components in some tables, a foam mattress pad may be required to allow complete
freedom of table movement when the single-sided table mount is in operating position with ultrasound transducer in rectum.
ADJUSTING THE STABILIZER
1. Grasp handles of FAM and loosen locking control knob on stabilizer.
®
For Micro-Touch
Stabilizer:
Adjust weight by turning weight adjustment knob on stabilizer to achieve desired feel to equipment.
2. Obtain satisfactory transducer position and starting image, tighten locking control knob on stabilizer. After stabilizer is locked into position, locking
control knob should not be used until removal from the patient.
3. Use FAM to optimize position of probe.
4. Install sterile drape and grid, position grid platform appropriately and secure with grid rail locking knobs. Refer to Sterile Drape and Template Grid
instructions for use.
FUNCTIONAL PREUSE CHECKS
WARNING
Prior to each use perform the following checks to ensure optimal performance.
n
If locking control knob on stabilizer will not hold unit securely in place, please contact CIVCO.
n
1. Attach the table mount at a suitable clasping point on the table rails to ensure it remains securely in position.
2. Ensure stabilizer moves freely when locking knob is loosened and secures firmly when locking knob is tightened.
3. Move each of the knobs on the FAM through its full range and then center each knob in position.
4. Perform table clearance check. Before indexing the table, make sure stabilizer and table mount do not interfere.
