Assembly
NOTE:
The repair manual always applies to the respective vehicle model.
Installing the fork
- Remove the series fork legs (see "Removing the fork legs" in the Repair
Manual).
- Remove the series cartridge (5) from the series fork legs (see "Disassembling
the fork legs" in the Repair Manual).

NOTE:
Do not disassemble the cartridge further. The cartridge and fork springs
(6) will be reused.
- Install the series cartridge into the SXS fork legs (scope of supply) (see
"Assembling the fork legs" in the Repair Manual).
NOTE:
The suitable fork oil is contained in the scope of supply.
- Install the SXS fork legs (see "Installing the fork legs" in the Repair
Manual).
NOTE:
The original or customized fork setting of the series fork is not changed by
this modification and can continue to be used in the SXS fork.
The original setting varies with the vehicle model (see the settings list of the
respective model).
To service the SXS fork, the optionally available fork service kit R140.20
must be used. The original fork service kit may not be used.
Installing the shock absorber

- Remove the series shock absorber (see "Removing the shock absorber" in
the Repair Manual).
- Remove the spring (see "Removing the spring" in the Repair Manual).
- Remove the cap (7) and slowly open the screw (8) to release the pressure
in the reservoir.
- Remove the series DCC unit (compression damping adjuster) (9) (see
"Disassembling the damper" in the Repair Manual).
NOTE:
The shock absorber does not need to be disassembled and the oil does not
need to be drained. Only the series DCC unit (compression damping adjus-
ter) (9) is removed.
- Install the SXS DCC unit (compression damping adjuster) (4) into the series
shock absorber (see "Assembling the damper" in the Repair Manual).
- Bleed the damper (see "Bleeding and filling the damper").
- Fill the damper with nitrogen (see "Filling the damper with nitrogen").
- Install the spring (see "Installing the spring" in the Repair Manual).
- Install the shock absorber (see "Installing the shock absorber" in the
Repair Manual).
NOTE:
The main setting of the series shock absorber remains unchanged. Only the
setting of the DCC unit (compression damping adjuster) changes. The main
setting varies with the vehicle model (see the setting list of the respective model).
