• Always use a small funnel or an acid bottle (both
optionally available) for this task.
Suitable battery acid (sulphuric acid density 1.28 kg/l) can be
obtained from any Louis store or from the Louis Online Shop. You
will find the required quantity of acid on the side of the battery's
packaging.
Once you have filled it with acid, leave the battery open for an hour
before inserting the caps. If the acid level has dropped after an
hour, top up as necessary, but do not exceed the "Maximum" mark.

5.3 | Charging

IMPORTANT!
Risk of damage!
In spite of being factory pre-charged, the battery
must always be 100% fully charged prior to
installation. This must be carried out using
a suitable motorcycle charger. Failure to do
so will shorten the service life of your battery
considerably and may damage the battery.
• After charging, the battery should be left open for
approx. 2 hours to allow the vapours to escape.
If, after charging, the fluid level has fallen below
the "Maximum" mark, this may only be topped up
with distilled water, never with battery acid.
WARNING!
Risk of explosion and fire!
• Never use a car battery charger to charge your
motorcycle battery. They supply a charging current

that is too high and overcharge the comparatively
small motorcycle battery, which can cause an
explosion in the most extreme cases.
• Only use chargers that are specifically designed
for motorcycle batteries. The charging current
must not be higher than 10% of the battery
capacity (i.e., for a battery capacity of 10 Ah, a
maximum charging current of 1 amp).
• Charging voltages of up to 14.6 V are not a
problem for DELO standard lead-acid batteries,
whereby the ideal final charging voltage is 14.3 V.
After charging and allowing vapours to escape, replace the
battery caps and firmly secure the battery in the clean battery
compartment. Do not tilt the battery, as acid can otherwise escape
through the vent hole. The battery must be securely mounted in the
motorcycle!

5.4 | Installation/removal

Before you remove the old battery, switch off all the electrical
devices on your motorcycle. Disconnect the earth connection (–)
first of all, then the positive terminal (+), and then remove the old
battery.
After you have ensured that the DELO standard lead-acid battery
corresponds to the features of the original battery, install the
DELO battery in the appropriate location. The battery cables are
connected in reverse order – remove the sticker and connect
the positive cable to the positive terminal (+) first of all, and then
connect the earth cable (–) to the negative terminal. In this regard,
be sure to use the terminal screws supplied. Prior to connection,
clean the cable terminals of the battery cable with a wire brush
(corroded terminals can cause the motorcycle's electrical system
to malfunction!). Do not use excessive force to tighten the screws,
as this may distort the battery terminals and damage the battery.
