Care and Maintenance of Your Generator
To help care for the generator, this kit and guide should be used in accordance with the Service Schedule and Maintenance sections of the
generator are also performed as outlined.
Before performing any maintenance on your generator, make sure the switch is in the OFF position, the negative terminal on the battery is
removed (if equipped with a battery), and the battery charger is disabled (if applicable).
In order to properly maintain the generator, perform the following:
Change the Oil and Filter
Hot oil may cause burns. Allow engine to cool before draining oil. Avoid prolonged or repeated skin
exposure with used oil. Thoroughly wash exposed areas with soap.

After the engine cools down, drain the engine oil into a suitable container by pulling the oil drain hose (if equipped) free from its retain-
ing clip and removing the drain hose cap. If not equipped with oil drain hose, simply remove drain plug.
2.
Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.
3.
When the oil has been drained, replace and tighten the drain plug or drain hose cap and place the hose into its clip.
4.
If equipped with oil filter heater, remove by pulling on perimeter of heating element. DO NOT pull on wire or connector!
5.
If equipped, remove the oil filter and allow it to drain into a suitable container.
6.
Clean the seal area around the oil filter adapter; apply a light coat of clean engine oil to the gasket on the new filter and screw the new
filter onto the adapter until the gasket lightly touches; tighten the filter an additional 3/4 turn.
7.
Wipe filter to clean off any oil or debris. Reinstall filter heater (if originally equipped).
9.
Start the engine and check for oil leaks.
10. Shut the engine down and let it sit for 5 minutes, then re-check the oil level and adjust it as necessary to reach the full mark on the dip-
stick.
11. Dispose of the old oil and filter in accordance with applicable regulations.
Change the Air Cleaner and Pre-cleaner

Remove the fasteners and the cover to the air box. Note how the air cleaner and pre-cleaner (if used) elements are positioned in the air
box.
3.
Remove the air cleaner and pre-cleaner elements. Clean any dust or debris from inside the air box. Place the new filter elements into the
air box in the same orientation as the ones removed.
4.
Replace the air box cover and secure the fasteners. Note: Not all systems utilize a pre-filter.
Change the Inline Fuel Filter (if applicable)
1.
Locate the inline fuel filter and loosen the clamps on the inlet and outlet hoses. Note the direction of flow indicated on the filter housing.
Remove the old filter and dispose of it properly.
2.
Connect the inlet and outlet hoses to the new filter. Make sure the flow direction of the new filter is correct (pointing from inlet hose to
outlet hose).
3.
Re-install the clamps and tighten them down (if applicable).
Change the Spark Plug(s)
1.
Rotate and remove the spark plug boot plug wire from the spark plug.
2.
Clean the area around the spark plug where it enters the cylinder head. Use low pressure air to remove any loose dirt and debris around
the base of the spark plug.
3.
Remove the old spark plug with the appropriate wrench.
5.
Insert the new spark plug into the cylinder head and tighten with the appropriate wrench (not included).
7.
Test run the unit.
