3.4 PREPARATIONS FOR COMBINED SEED/FERTILIZER
DISTRIBUTION
The dosing devices for combined seed/fertilizer distribution have
double chambers made in stainless steel (Fig. 21). Unlike the
seed dosing roller, the fertilizer dosing roller is one with even
pitch set on a hexagonal axis. The mobile bottom of the fertilizer
distributor (A Fig. 21) consists of a stainless steel door that can
be taken off by means of a stop (B Fig. 21) to facilitate cleaning
operations. CAUTION! The fertilizer is distributed in the same
furrow as the seed: USE A SUITABLE PRODUCT.
3.4.1 COMBINED DISTRIBUTION HOPPER
The COMBINED distribution hopper is divided into two
compartments (Fig. 22): the rear one (A) for the seeds and the
front one (B) for the fertilizer. The fertilizer compartment is also
fitted with a grille to sift any foreign bodies and lumps that could
damage the dosing mechanism. Each compartment has its own
controls for the adjustment of seed and fertilizer distribution rates.
3.4.2 COMBINED DOSING
In combined distribution, fertilizer dosing is carried out through
the gearbox situated to the left of the machine (3 Fig. 1), by
moving the gearbox lever along the plate numbered from 0 to 55
and fixing it on the number selected beforehand according to the
FERTILIZER DISTRIBUTION TABLE on page 39.
We recommend carrying out a fertilizer dosing test following the
same procedure carried out for the seeds (chapter 3.4.3).
3.4.3 FERTILIZER DISTRIBUTION TEST
During the sowing test, pay attention to the points at which
there are parts in movement: agitator shaft, dosing rollers,
etc..
For precise fertilizer distribution it is advisable to carry out a dosing
test with the machine stopped.
1) Adjust the gearbox according to the quantities to be distributed
(from «0» to «55»), given in the TABLE OF FERTILIZER
DISTRIBUTION (Cod. 19704470).
2) Extract the lock pin (A Fig. 17) and, using the handles, move
the seed colletors support in the direction of the arrow.
3) Unhook the collecting trays (Fig. 18) and place them under
the fertilizer discharge.
4) Fill the fertilizer hopper to half load.
5) Insert the handle (Fig. 19) in the gearbox shaft (3 Fig. 1) and
turn it clockwise.
6) Before starting the test, turn the handle a few times to load
the fertilizer distributors, and then empty the collecting trays.
7) Turn the handle for the number of gearbox turns given in
tables being used.
8) Weigh the quantity collected in the trays and multiply the
weight by 100 or by 40 according to the rotations carried out.
The figure obtained will be the quantity in kilograms
distributed per hectare (Fig. 20).
It is advisable to clean the seed collectors and the seed delivery
tubes frequently, especially in a damp climate.
