6. Working
6.1 Sawing
1.
It is important to keep concentration on the job to do:
•
Keep calm and plan your work.
•
In poor light conditions and poor visibility: do not use the chain saw.
•
Use the chain saw on your own.
•
Don't work above shoulder height.
•
Watch out for obstacles.
•
Stand safely on the ground when operating the chain saw and keep your balance. If you have to
work at a height: use a lift bucket or secure scaffolding.
2.
The moving saw chain can cut the user: do not touch the moving saw chain.
3.
The moving saw chain warms up and expands. If the saw chain is not sufficiently cooled and retensio-
ned, the saw chain may jump off the guide bar or it may break.
•
Use chain lubricant.
•
Check the chain tension regularly while working. If the chain tension is too slack: tension it.
4.
If the chain saw starts behaving differently or in an unusual way while operating: Stop working and
consult a STIHL servicing dealer.
5.
The chain saw may cause vibrations in operation.
•
Wear gloves.
•
Take breaks.
•
If signs of poor circulation appear: consult a doctor.
6.
If the moving saw chain hits a solid object, sparks may occur. This can cause fires in a flammable
environment: do not use the chain saw in a flammable environment.
7.
The chain runs on for a short period after you release the trigger: wait for the saw chain to stop moving.
If you see wood under tension, the guide bar may become jammed: Start by making a relieving cut in the
compression side (1) and then make a severing cut in the tension side (2).
