• Observe the correct supply voltage (material protection).
• Protection class III electric insulation (material protection).
• Lay out the data lines:
– Use shielded data lines with twisted pair wires.
– Implement a proper and complete shielding concept.
– Always lay out and wire cables in accordance with EMC requirements to
avoid interference, e. g. from switch-mode power supplies, motors, timed
regulators and contactors.
– Do not lay cables in parallel with power supply cables and motor cables in
cable conduits over a longer distance.
• Comply with degree of protection IP65 and IP67.
The IP65 and IP67 degree of protection is maintained for the product only un-
der the following conditions:
– The attached cable on the M12 port is properly installed and secured.
– The round plug connector is fastened.
Connection with 5-pin M12 plug
Procedure
1. Screw the M12x1 plug of the CON-RD connecting cable to the port (see
g Fig. 2).
If the port is not used, maintain IP65 degree of protection for the housing:
Cover the port with a cap.
2. Connect the cable in accordance with its function.
3. Apply the supply voltage.
ð The display indicates the current measuring value.
ð After the standby delay has elapsed (approx. 1 s), the product is in run mode
(normal operating mode).

7 Commissioning
Follow the steps below to carry out commissioning.
7.1 Basic requirements
Personnel qualifications
Commissioning only by qualified personnel. See
7.2 Notes on safety
To eliminate risks during commissioning, observe the notes on safety. See
g 2. Safety.
7.3 Preparation
General requirements
• Make sure the product is fully assembled and connected.
• Make sure all presettings have been made and the product has been config-
ured correctly.
7.4 Step-by-step commissioning
Procedure
1. Apply operating voltage.
2. Pressurize the system part where the flow sensor is connected.
ð The sensor runs a self-test and is operational afterwards. The measuring value
menu is displayed.
The product has no main switch
The product is switched on and operational as soon as the product is
connected to mains voltage. To switch off: Disconnect the product
from the power supply.
