You must use the Parking Pad if the Steam Cleaner is warm or hot.

The Parking Pad is provided to prevent floor damage
that can result from leaving a hot Steam Cleaner
resting on the same spot for too long. ALWAYS place
Steam Cleaner on the Parking Pad when not in use, or
while it is cooling before storage.
