On newly purchased machines this function is active (the "
light (16) is on) and is performed at the end of the warm-up
phase, when the " " light (14) turns on steady.
Note: should no water pour from the filter
holder, perform a manual rinse as described in
sect. 7.1.

6 Energy Saving

The machine is designed for energy saving.
After 9 minutes of inactivity, the machine turns off in order to
save energy and respect nature.
Press the ON/OFF " " button (11) to operate the machine.

7 Coffee Brewing

Warning! During coffee brewing it is forbidden
to remove the pressurized filter holder by
manually turning it from right to left. Danger of burns!
• During this operation, the "

• Before using the machine, make sure that there is enough
water in the machine tank.
Note: if the steam knob is opened by mistake
during the warm-up phase, the " " light
(20) starts blinking. Close the knob and wait until the
machine is ready.
If coffee is NOT brewed after pressing the brew
button " " (13), press the brew button "
(13) again and check the "Troubleshooting" table before
removing the filter holder.
Ensure the machine is ready before brewing coffee. The

7.1 Filter Holder Warm-Up
If the "rinse" function is not activated and/or the filter holder is
to be warmed-up manually, do as follows:
• 13 Insert the pressurized filter holder into the brew unit
(4) from the bottom.

• Turn the pressurized filter holder from left to right un-
til it locks into place. Release the pressurized filter holder
grip. The handle will turn slightly to the left. This move-
ment guarantees optimum filter holder performance.

• Preheat the pressurized filter holder by pressing the
(13) button; some water will flow out of the pressurized
filter holder (this operation is necessary only for the first
coffee).
• After 50 cc of water have been dispensed, press the (13)
button again to stop the dispensing procedure.

• Remove the pressurized filter holder by turning it from
right to left and then drain the remaining water.
Place a container under the dispensing spout.
Now you can go on with the coffee brewing procedures
described in the following sections.

7.2 Using Ground Coffee

• 7 Insert the filter (23) in the pressurized filter holder
(21); at first use, the filter is already on. With the special
filter (23) provided there is no need to change the filter to
make one or two coffee(s).

• Add 1-1.5 measuring scoop(s) for a single coffee and 2
measuring scoops for a double coffee. Remove any coffee
residues from the rim of the pressurized filter holder.
Note: do not press the coffee, since the filter
holder is provided with an optimized system
for original espresso brewing.

• Insert the filter holder (21) into the brew unit (4) from
the bottom.

• Turn the pressurized filter holder from left to right un-
til it locks into place. Release the pressurized filter holder
grip. The handle will turn slightly to the left. This move-
ment guarantees optimum filter holder performance.
• 16 Take 1 or 2 preheated cups and place them un-
der the pressurized filter holder. Make sure that they are
placed correctly under the coffee brewing nozzles.
• 17 Press the " " button (13).

• When the desired quantity of coffee has been brewed,
press the " " button (13) again to stop the brewing pro-
cedure. Wait for a few seconds after brewing, then remove
the cups of coffee.
