USAGE INSTRUCTIONS
the skatInG (RIde) technOlOGY OF the Ice-skates
• Only use the product to go skating on specifically designated skating areas.
• Please note that these ice skates are intended for leisure skaters. They are not made
for competitive sports, ice hockey or figure skating.
• When starting out, keep to the edge of the area and hold on to a suitable object (fence)
or ask somebody to lead you for the first couple of steps.
• Please make sure that you are standing straight on the blades to prevent twisting your
ankles. The blades should stand at a right angle to the ice.
• To skate, push forward with the inner edge of one of the blades, held at a slight angle,
and slide over the ice with your weight on the other blade.
• Keep your knees slightly bent while skating and lean forward slightly with your upper
body.
• Do not look at your feet while skating, but always in the direction in which you're
moving.
• Continue by taking small steps, while shifting your body weight from one foot to the
other and placing your feet at an outward angle.
• To stop, leave both feet on the ice and let yourself skid to a stop. While doing so, use
your arms to keep your balance.
• Beginners are recommended to attend an ice skating course.
the skatInG (RIde) technOlOGY OF the InlIne-skates
Every beginning is difficult and the most accidents take place for the 'beginners' within the
first ten minutes. Be very careful during this phase! Take a few steps with toes pointing
forwards because this how you will push off from the ground. Balance on one foot. Better
skills at doing this will make skating and braking easier later. Be careful – inline skates can
reach unexpected speeds.
Now practise on clean, level tarmac. Stand straight on your skates with your feet parallel
and about six inches apart. Slowly raise your arms forward and bend your knees till your
shin is in contact with the boot. Let your body weight pass through the balls of your feet.
Beginners often mistakenly stand straight, keeping knees too stiff and putting their weight
on the heels.
Avoid all streets that are steep, have traffic on them or have difficult surfaces. Select the
difficulty of the roads and surfaces according to your level of expertise. Moisture, sand and
dirt damage the wheels and bearings.
The next step to learn is turning. Get comfortable with the feel of the edge by tilting the
skates outwards and inwards while you are still standing. Use your hip and knees to do this.
Now try to do this while you are skating. You will experience a greater pressure on the inside
of your foot while turning, which is why you must always lean a little inwards.
the bRakeInG technOlOGY OF the InlIne-skates
Learn how to brake. If you want to stand you can just roll to a halt. Pros also do that. You
can of course brake with stoppers as well: lift your right foot's toes slightly so that the
stopper touches the ground at the back. The more pressure you put, the quicker you will
decrease the speed. Avoid full brakes because then you may not have complete control.
Always skate with foresight!
MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
Ice skates:
• The shoes should be dried after each use.
• After each use, clean the metal parts of your ice skates with a soft cloth.
• The blades are hollow-ground. From time to time, the blades should be reground.
This service is offered at ice skating rinks and in large sports stores. Please note that
the blade holder must not be adjusted while the blade is being ground. After grinding,
there must be a radius of 5 mm at the end of the blade. Otherwise, the skate may
become unsafe to use.
• If the skates aren't being used for a prolonged period of time, it is recommended to
grease the blades slightly to prevent them from becoming rusty.

Changing wheels and bearings (Figure R):
Wheels and bearings are available as accessories and can be changed independent of
each other if they wear out or get damaged. While changing the wheels, keep in mind
that bearing needs to be removed from the old wheels and attached to the new ones.
Ensure that the axle bolt is tightened again and provided with locking paint. Your inline
skates have precision bearings that have been filled with lubricant under high pressure
at the production plant. This is why your skates move easily and quickly with just a little
pressure while skating. Like the wheels, the bearings also need to be replaced when they
stop working properly. However, never dismantle them!
Changing the stopper
Due to frequent braking or emergency braking, the stopper will be worn out. In the event
that the stopper is worn out, it should be replaced. In order to replace the stopper, you
should loosen the screw located in the stopper from the bottom and then the stopper. Now
you can push a new stopper from below on to the boot, fix it with the screw and re-insert
and screw on the rear roller. The stopper change should preferably be performed by a
technically competent person.
Use a dry or damp cloth only to clean the product; do not use special cleaning agents!
Check the product for damage or traces of wear and tear before and after each use. Do
not make any structural changes. For your own safety, please use original spare parts
only. These can be sourced from HUDORA. If parts become damaged or if sharp edges
or corners should develop, the product may not be used any more. If in any doubt, please
contact our service team (http://www.hudora.de/). Store the product in a safe place
where it is protected from the elements, cannot be damaged, and cannot injure anyone.
