• Wear personal protective equipment. Wearing personal protective equipment, such as safety
goggles, dust mask, non-slip safety shoes, safety helmet or hearing protection, depending on
the type and use of the machine, reduces the risk of injury.
• Remove any adjustment tools or spanners before switching on the unit. A tool or key left in a
rotating part of the unit can cause injury.
• Avoid any posture that is not normal. Make sure you stand securely and keep your balance at
all times. This gives you better control of the unit in unexpected situations.
2.6 SAFETY INFORMATION FOR COMMISSIONING
• Never allow children to use the appliance.
• Never use the machine while people or animals are nearby. Local regulations may restrict the
age of the user.
• Wear ear protection, safety glasses and safety shoes. Wear them during the entire operating
time of the machine.
• Do not wear loose hanging clothing or clothing with hanging ribbons or cords.
• Always wear sturdy shoes and long trousers when operating the machine. Do not operate the
machine barefoot or in light sandals.
• Only use the machine outdoors (i.e. not close to a wall or other rigid object) and on a firm,
level surface.
• Do not use the machine on a paved surface strewn with gravel where ejected material could
cause injury.
• Before putting the machine into operation, check that all screws, nuts, bolts and other fixing
materials are tight and that covers and protective shields are in place. Damaged or illegible
stickers must be replaced.
• Before use, always inspect the connection and extension cables for signs of damage or ageing.
If the cable is damaged during use, it must be disconnected from the mains supply
immediately. DO NOT TOUCH THE CABLE UNTIL IT IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS.
Do not use the machine if the cable is damaged or worn.
2.7 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR OPERATION
• WARNING! This appliance has rotating blades.
• WARNING! The blades do not stop immediately after switching off!
• WARNING! The intake hopper must be fully assembled and securely seated before use.
• Before starting the machine, make sure that the intake hopper is empty.
• Keep your head and body away from the intake opening.
• Hands, other body parts and clothing must not be placed in the intake opening, discharge
chute or near other moving parts.
• Always make sure you keep your balance and a firm footing. Do not stretch forward. Never
stand higher than the machine when throwing in material.
• Always stay outside the ejection zone when starting up the machine.
• When throwing in material, take special care that it does not contain metal, stones, bottles,
cans or other foreign objects.
• If foreign objects get into the cutting tool, the machine makes unusual noises or vibrates
unusually, switch off the motor immediately, let the machine come to standstill and disconnect
the mains plug:
