• Carefully fold the main housing shut and tighten the housing locking screw (A).
WARNING! Before loosening the housing screw (A), ALWAYS switch off the appliance at the on/off
switch (C) and disconnect the mains plug.
6.5 OPERATION
WARNING!
• Check that the feeding hopper is empty before starting the machine.
• Keep your face and body away from the feed opening.
• Be careful not to put your hands, other parts of your body or clothing in the feed chamber,
the ejection slot or near other moving parts.
• Never stand on a higher surface than the shredder when feeding the material into the feed
opening.
• Stand outside the ejection zone when operating the machine.
• Always remove the shredded material from the ejection zone before it piles up. This prevents
the shredded material from being thrown back through the feed hopper due to kickback, which
can lead to accidents.
• If the shredder is blocked, first switch it off, disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket
and wait for the machine to come to a complete standstill before removing the blockage. Keep
the on/off switch (C) clean and free of foreign objects.
• Fill the material to be shredded into the feed opening on the left-hand side (clockwise rotation
of the blades). The material is automatically drawn in by the blades.
• WARNING! Longer material protruding from the unit could snap back when pulled in by the
blades! Maintain a safe distance!
• Only put in enough material so that the hopper does not become clogged.
• Always shred withered and damp garden waste alternately with twigs, this will prevent the
blades from jamming.
• Do not put soft waste such as kitchen waste in the shredder, but compost it.
• Heavily branched wood with foliage must first be completely shredded before new material is
put in.
• Make sure that the shredded material can fall freely out of the ejection chute. Otherwise there
is a danger of blockage!
• The ventilation slots must not be covered by the collection bag or shredded material.
6.5.1 USE OF THE PUSHER
Smaller objects can be better inserted into the shredder with the help of the pusher provided.
Always wait until the material has been completely shredded before introducing a new load.
ATTENTION: Never use the appliance without the feeding hopper!
Tips:
• Heavy, hard material or branches will cause the blades to jam if they are cut continuously. You
can counteract this problem by pulling the material out a little by hand. This way you can help
keep the motor running instead of waiting for the motor protection to trip.
• Soft material such as leaves, stems or stalks can block the feed opening. Push in soft material
using the pusher provided.
• Always place the material to be shredded into the feed opening from the left-hand side.
• Check the material to be shredded carefully. Make sure that there are no stones or nails in it,
otherwise the shredder could be severely damaged.
