6.0 USING THE UNIT FOR THE FIRST TIME
NOTE: Always use the correct mains voltage!
The mains voltage must correspond to the specification on the type plate of the unit. Units with a
nominal voltage of 230 V can also be connected to a 220 V mains supply. The machine should be
supplied via a residual current device (RCD) with a tripping current of no more than 30 mA. An
extension cable with too small a cross-section leads to a significant reduction in the performance
of the unit. For cables with a length of up to 25 m, a cross-section of at least 3 x 1.5 mm
2
is required;
for cables with a length of more than 25 m, the cross-section must be at least 2.5 mm
2
.
WARNING! The main AC electrical supply may experience a voltage drop when this apparatus is
started. This can affect other equipment (e.g. flashing of a lamp). If the impedance of the AC main
supply is less than 0.40 Ohms at 50Hz, these disturbances are not to be expected. If necessary,
you can get more information from your local supply specialist.
6.1 ON/OFF SWITCH
• To switch on the shredder, press the on/off switch (C) to position "I".
• To switch off, press the on/off switch (C) to position "0".
NOTE: The unit has a safety switch that prevents the unit from restarting unintentionally after a
power interruption.
Never carry or move the machine with your finger on the on/off switch. Make sure that the
machine is switched off when you insert the plug into the socket.
Wait until the shredder has reached its working speed before feeding in material.
6.2 QUICK STOP
The electric motor is equipped with a safety brake and stops within 5 seconds of being switched
off. As a result, the rotation of the blades also stops.
6.3 MOTOR PROTECTION
An overload (e.g. if the blades are blocked or the cut material is too thick) will cause the appliance
to stop after a few seconds. To protect the motor from damage, the motor protection switch
automatically switches off the power supply.
Wait at least 1 minute before restarting the shredder by pressing the on/off switch (C).
Proceed as follows and check the feeding hopper if the motor protection has tripped:
WARNING! Always wear safety gloves!
• Pull the mains plug.
• Unscrew the housing locking screw (A) and fold open the main housing.
• Clean the cutting and ejection area. Remove branches or objects that could block the blades.
• Fold the main housing shut and tighten the housing locking screw (A).
• Press the on/off switch (C) to restart.
6.4 SAFETY SWITCH
The shredder is equipped with a safety switch (B) at the closure between the main housing and
the motor housing.
If the main housing is not properly seated and attached to the motor housing, the safety switch
(B) will be triggered and the motor will stop. In this case, proceed as follows:
• Open the main housing as described above.
• Carefully clean the cutting and ejection area and remove any objects that could block the
blades.
