A_DISHILNB INSTALLATION
When selecting the dish mounting position, you can check line of sight (between dish and satellite) is not obscured by buildings or trees
etc. using the dish-position checker (on back of book) as follows:
@ = Atintended location of dish, hold book flat with arrow
© pointing south.
Place your eye next to other end of arrow
@. Using protractor scale, look in direction of satellite you want to receive (eg. look 19° east
for Astra). Get a bearing on this direction by relating it to a fixed point of the landscape such as a tree.
@
Pina
piece of thread about 30cm long to tip of arrow @ and tie a small weight onto the other end. Hold book vertically so thread
is hanging at angle of elevation required for your location (eg. 28° in London).
Arrow
@ should now point towards satellite in space. If there are any obstructions in the way, then find a different location for the dish.
The receiver can accommodate the following dish and LNB combinations:
-
single dish mounted with one LNB, to receive from one satellite,
-
single dish mounted with two LNBs, to receive from two different satellites,
-
two separate dishes mounted with two LNBs (one on each dish), to receive from two different satellites.
The receiver is factory-set for LNB type SLB3 or TLB3. To use older models of Amstrad LNB (eg. type SLBI, TLBI or bluecap), change
receiver's local oscillator setting to |OGHz. To do this, press SET-UP repeatedly so INSTALLATION MENU is displayed on screen,
press SELECT + to change LNB A,LOW setting to 10.000 GHZ, then press EXIT.
In rare cases with older model LNBs, some future Astra channels (scheduled introduction from 1994) may suffer degraded reception or
interference from terrestrial TV transmissions. In such cases, upgrade your LNB to type SLB3 or TLB3 (then set receiver's local oscillator
to 9.75GHz).
If in doubt about the suitability of your LNB, contact your dealer. (See also section |5j.)
B
CONNECTIONS
Any short-circuit on the LNB socket(s) is indicated by red and green lights flashing together on receiver front panel. (Short-circuits are
usually caused by loose strands of wire within the F-type connector, or by a punctured feeder cable.)
If connecting a TV and/or video recorder to receiver's SCART/PERITEL socket(s), you will need to purchase a standard 21-way cable for
each piece of equipment. (See also section 15M.)
To make the most of the receiver's high quality stereo sound, you may feed it through your stereo system. To do this, connect an audio
cable (twin-phono) from AUDIO OUT L and R sockets (at back of receiver) to auxiliary input socket(s) of your stereo system.
C TUNING-IN
If your TVis connected to the TV SCART/PERITEL socket, then there is no need to tune it in, as the satellite picture will appear automatically
whenever the receiver is switched on (see also section 15]).
If your video recorder is connected to the VCR SCART/PERITEL socket, then there is no need to tune it in. (To record from satellite, set
the video recorder to external A/V input (or auxiliary channel 0).
The full tuning-in procedure for your TV and video recorder will be found in the equipment's user instruction books.
If receiver's RF output signal interferes with adjacent TV channel or other equipment (eg. video recorder), then adjust CH.AD] control on
receiver back panel by approx quarter-turn and re-tune TV (and video recorder if connected). Consult your dealer if you have difficulty
tuning-in.
pee Kole 4
If CHECK CLOCK is displayed (instead of CURRENT TIME) when TIMER is pressed, this means there has been a mains power
interruption (or receiver has been unplugged). As the displayed time may now be incorrect, re-set the clock.
