INSTALLATION CUSTOMISATION
Installation customisation is used to configure global settings. Any settings changed on this menu will affect all channels and all on-screen
displays.
The LOW and HIGH frequencies are for matching the local oscillators to the currently selected LNB. The adjustment range is 9.300 to
12.000GHz (or 0,000GHz).
The low and high local oscillators can be fine-tuned by +10MHz. The FINE TUNE settings should be adjusted only if all channels using
the displayed LNB/local oscillator combination seem off-tune. This will be especially apparent in weak signal conditions (eg. heavy rain)
where black or white sparklies will appear on the picture. Use FINE TUNE to minimise these sparklies.
Fine-tuning is able to compensate for LNB frequency drift (within specified tolerances); however it cannot compensate for poor dish
installation or alignment, nor insufficient dish size.
The TV/SAT setting can be used to control your TV (if connected to receiver's TV SCART/PERITEL socket), as follows:
-
if TV/SAT is set to AUTO, TV automatically changes to satellite channel when receiver is switched on (TV returns to previous
channel when receiver is switched off),
-
if TV/SAT is set to TV, satellite channel will only appear when manually selected on the TV.
(Note that automatic satellite channel selection will not take place during timer operation.)
The TV is controlled by a DC signal on pin 8 of the TV SCART/PERITEL socket. If your TV is not connected to this socket, then ignore
TVISAT setting.
The LANGUAGE
setting acts on all on-screen displays. The available languages are: English, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, French,
Polish, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish.
K
C-BAND AND TELECOM SATELLITES
To receive C-band broadcasts, set BAND switch (underside receiver) to C position (set to NORMAL for all other broadcasts), The BAND
switch inverts the video signal. If switch is not set correctly, TV picture will distort. (Additionally, change receiver's local oscillator setting
to 0GHz before tuning-in required C-band frequencies.)
To receive Télécom broadcasts, set DE-EMPH switch (underside receiver) to JI7 position (set to NORM for all other broadcasts). The
DE-EMPH switch changes audio de-emphasis on wide audio bandwidth channels (it has no effect on channels set to narrow audio bandwidth).
The BAND and DE-EMPH switches can be operated using a small screwdriver or similar object.
L
SATELLITE RADIO
Every satellite channel is broadcast with the programme soundtrack on an audio subcarrier. On many channels this is accompanied by
additional subcarrier(s) containing satellite radio station(s).
A number of receiver channels have been factory-set for radio stations (these are listed on the Satellite Check Chart accompanying this
book). When selected, the picture will be blanked (except for on-screen information).
If receiver is connected to your stereo system (see section 15B), then your TV may be left switched off during radio reception.
