G CHANNEL CUSTOMISATION
Channel customisation can be used simply to swap channel positions, or to configure receiver for different satellite(s). Many channels are
ready-configured for the major European satellites (see the Satellite Check Chart accompanying this book); however, the settings of any
channel may be altered.
For each channel to customise, you must find out its frequency, polarisation and audio subcarrier(s) by consulting the relevant publication.
If receiving the broadcast using a different LNB, you must set receiver's local oscillator frequency to match.
Reception from other satellites will depend on your location, size of dish and type of LNB. (Some broadcasts may require an additional
decoder.) Consult your local satellite expert for installation information. (See also section | SK.)
The channel frequency (CH FREQ) adjustment range is typically 10.700 to 12.050GHz depending on local oscillator setting (see section
15)).
AUDIO MODE should be selected for required audio subcarrier frequency as follows:

If none of the above audio modes contains the desired settings, you can customise any mode to your own requirements (see section | 5H).
You can change audio modes to select different soundtracks: one mode will contain the soundtrack for the programme you are watching,
others may contain alternative languages or satellite radio stations. (See also section |5L.)
SYSTEM should be set to PAL or MAC as appropriate (MAC broadcasts require a MAC decoder). Note MAC setting mutes audio.
Setting SYSTEM to RADIO suppresses picture, leaving soundtrack only.
VID DEVIATION should be set to NARROW for all Astra broadcasts. For other broadcasts, set for correct picture contrast
LNB should be set to A or B according to which socket the LNB for this channel is connected. The setting A or B is followed by LOW
or HIGH which selects one of two local oscillators inside the LNB (dependent on LNB fitted). The oscillator frequencies themselves can
be matched independently (see section {5)).
Note if you set CUSTOMISE CH to a new number, you will overwrite all the previous settings of that channel number. Be careful not
to overwrite a channel you wish to keep!
SWAPPING CHANNELS
Swapping channel positions is best described by example. To swap two channels (eg. | and 8):
@
Select channel !. On channel customisation display, change CUSTOMISE CH I toa
spare unused number (eg. 99), then press
EXIT.
@
Select channel 8. On channel customisation display, change CUSTOMISE CH 8 to I, then press EXIT.
©
Finally, select channel 99. On channel customisation display, change CUSTOMISE CH 99 to 8, then press EXIT.
H AUDIO MODE CUSTOMISATION
Audio mode customisation is used to configure audio modes to frequencies, bandwidths and mono/stereo settings different from the
factory-set values shown on table in section 15G.
If you customise an audio mode for a particular broadcast, make sure that mode is not used by any channels you normally watch (audio
modes are listed on the Satellite Check Chart accompanying this book).
Audio bandwidth should be set to NARROW for Astra broadcasts. For other broadcasts, you may need to change to WIDE bandwidth
to maintain optimal sound quality. (See also section | 5K.)
