3.1 Base unit
The Cercon
housing (1) and a sintering chamber (2). The heat in-
side the sintering chamber is generated by molybdenum
10
disilicide heating elements. At higher temperatures, these
heating elements form a silicon oxide layer that protects
9
them from corrosion and ensures their longevity. The heat-
ing elements are protected from contact with the fi ring
objects by the retort tube (3) made of plasma ceramics.
1
The walls of the sintering chamber are fi lled with high-quality
insulation material (4) to keep the heat loss to a minimum.
This results in an energy-saving process characterized by
low thermal conductivity and heat storage. The design
allows
1,600°C, evenly distributed throughout the sintering
chamber. The heat insulation inside the walls of the
sintering chamber consists of ceramic fi bers.
11
The sintering trays (see Scope of delivery) are placed in
the middle of the insulated fl oor (5), from where they are
lifted into the sintering chamber by the lifting table (6).
8
Important note: Note that the sintering trays included with
the Cercon
tures prevailing within the unit. The use of other sintering
trays (such as those intended for use with e.g. Cercon
etc.) is not permitted and may result in damage to the unit.
The lifting table is moved up and down by way of a manually
operated electrical spindle drive.
The lifting table contains an electric fan, with the air taken
in and removed via the ventilation slits (7). The top of the
sintering chamber features an exhaust tube (8) that also
serves to optimize the exchange of air.
The control panel (9) and display (10) are ergonomically
located at the front of the unit. This allows you to activate
the four predefi ned sintering programs and to check the
device parameters (see Controls). All processes are
3
controlled by an electronic microcontroller inside the unit.
The unit rests on adjustable feet (11) for maximum
stability.
The keyhole for emergency lowering (12) is located at
the top of the unit and is actuated with the included key.
(seeLifting table, emergency lowering).
Important: Use emergency lowering only in case of
electronic failure! Pull the power supply plug before use
the emergency lowering!
