Directions for use
Even if you are an experienced sewing machine operator it will
be necessary to study these operating instructions carefully and
to observe all the recommendations given. Only then can
satisfactory operation be guaranteed.
The following text applies only to the basic operation of the
Adler 67, 167.
Where operation of the sub-classes differs from that of the
basic model see supplementary instructions.
For better survey please unfold the illustrations shown on the
last page of this guide.
In order to extend the life of the machine, the sewing speed
should be reduced in the following cases:
1. During the running-in period
2. When processing thick material
3. During long-term continuous material
4. When larger stitch lengths are used
5. When doing complicated work.

Unpacking
1. Check the packing for damage in the presence of the for¬
warding agent.
2. Check sewing machine, work table and accessories for any
damage which may have occurred in transit.
3. In the case of damage, immediately notify such damage in
the presence of the forwarding agent.
Erection
1. Fit the baseplate hinges into the rubber mounting of the
work table.
2. Make sure that the machine is located accurately in the table
cutout on the corner rubbers 30 (of the fully assembled
work table).
3. Fit top section support 31 into the table top cutout.
4. Screw on the spool holder 32 and the power winder 33.
5. Check direction of rotation of the machine.
Give tension to the V-belt by shifting the motor so that the
belt can be pushed together in the middle by approx 1 5 mm.
Cleaning and Oiling
1. Slacken head cover screws.
2. Remove head cover.
3. Slacken throat plate screws and remove the throat plate and
the slide 10.
4. With the help of the brush clean protective coating and any
acumulated dirt from all visible parts of the machine.
5. Oil all the lubrication points (shown with an arrow in fig.
3—5). By sub-classes with bottom, needle and upper feed
mechanisms please additional the lubrication points shown
in fig. 13, left-hand.
By sub-classes with bottom, needle and upper feed mecha¬
nism please oil additional the lubrication points shown in
fig. 13, right-hand.
Use our oil with following data:
Viscosity at 20°C, cSt: 193,0
Viscosity at 50°C, cSt:
41,0
flash point °C
: 224,0
component number 990 47 012 8 for 1-litre container
component number 990-47 012 9 for 5-litre container
Threading the needle thread
1. In case of machines with roller foot, please fold (turn)
foot backward for better threading.
2. The thread from the reel to the right-hand needle is first
passed through the guide eye on the thread reel stand.

7. From the right, between the tension discs 18.
8. Through the front tensioner roller 36.
9. Through the hook 37.
10. Through the front half of the thread-tensioning spring 17.
11. Through the right-hand side of the thread guide 19.
