regeneration will be carried out at the set time (P3 and P4).
By pressing the
button again, the light point will turn off
R
and the regeneration reservation will be cancelled.
8) SETTING WATER HARDNESS USING
THE MIXER
Once installed and functioning, the water softener supplies
hardness-free drinking water. In some cases, a residual level
of water hardness is essential.
By tightening the mixer screw, a small quantity of non-softe-
ned water will mix with softened water near the outlet, raising
the hardness levels of the outlet water.
The more you tighten the mixer screw (fig. 3, M) the higher
the hardness level in the outlet water will be.
Please remember that this operation must be carried out very
carefully by the installer, who will have to measure correct
water hardness at the end of the procedure.
9) ANTI-OVERFLOW DEVICE (OPTIONAL)
The overflowing device is fitted as standard on the GAE8 RC
model and it is optional on the other GAE models (fig. 1, B).
Its main objective is to stop excess water from flowing into
the brine tank due to malfunctioning. It detects excess water
flowing into the brine tank thanks to a float that controls a me-
chanism that blocks water flow. The brine level control system
is a safety mechanism; consequently, in case it triggers, we
strongly suggest to check its root cause.
Caution: This device only works on the connection between
the valve and the brine tank; it does not replace the overflow
device that must be installed as integral part of our equipment
(chap. 3.6).
10) MAINTENANCE FOR THE INSTALLER
During all maintenance operations, all necessary precautions
must be adopted to preserve the hygienic integrity of the equi-
pment.
Reparations and maintenance must be carried out using ori-
ginal replacements.
10.1 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE
For the equipment to work in optimal conditions, we recco-
mend performing the following operations periodically:
- Clean the brine tank with warm water and remove any sedi-
ment from the suction pipe (fig. 1, G) every six months.
For external cleaning use a damp cloth and warm water.
Do not use detergents or other chemical substances.
- Check and clean the injector (fig. 11, B), its filter (fig. 11, C)
and the electrodes (fig. 11, A) at least once a year, following
the instructions reported below:
1. Close the water inlet and outlet taps (fig. 3, B, D)
2. Press the
button for 4 seconds, wait for the writing
R
"b3" to appear.
3. After 20 seconds, disconnect the transformer connector
from the timer (fig. 10, A).
4. Unscrew the caps (fig. 11, D) and remove the ejector (fig.
11, B), the filter (fig. 11, C) and the electrode holder.
5. Clean the components with water and make sure the hole
in the ejector is not blocked (fig. 11, B).
6. Put the parts back in their place carefully.
7. Take out the two electrodes, (fig. 11, A) inspect and clean
them by using a wet cloth; in case of clear wear and tear
signs, replace them.
8. Put them back in the right position.
9. Open again the water inlet and outlet taps.
10. Reconnect the transformer connector to the timer (fig. 10,
A) and let the resin rinse cycle end (around 5 minutes).

10.2 RESIN PRESERVATION AND ACTIVATION AFTER
A LONG PERIOD OF INACTIVITY
If the water softener is not to be used for more than 30 days,
it is necessary to do a regeneration first. Inactivity of the devi-
ce for more than 12 months is not recommended as it will not
be possible to reactivate the system after such a long period
of non-use.
10.3 DISCONNECTING THE EQUIPMENT
1. Close the inlet and outlet water taps (fig. 11,A).
2. Press the
button for 4 seconds, wait for the writing "b3"
R
to appear.
3. After 20 seconds disconnect the transformer connector
from the timer (fig. 10, A).
4. To disconnect the inlet, outlet and drain pipe, press on the
black ring that surrounds the pipe next to the insertion and
extract the pipe. (fig. 5).
5. Use the double joint to insert the taps (fig. 12, C, 1).
6. This way will allow you to bypass the water softener and
supply the machine of your choice with unsoftened water.
7. Open the inlet and outlet taps (fig. 12, D).
10.4 CHANGING THE RESINS
The resins' softening capacity ends after 5-7 years, this pe-
riod can vary based on the characteristics of the feed water
and the quantity of softened water. After this period of time,
the user needs to decide if to change the resins or if it is bet-
ter to change the water softener itself.
To change the resins, it is necessary to disconnect the water
softener as described in the previous paragraph (fig.10.3).
Take the tank to an authorized place to change the resins and
clean the interior of the tank.
Unscrew the valve from the tank, being careful not to lose the
o-ring of the valve.
Do not dispose resins in household drains.
The resins are not biodegradable and must be considered a
non-hazardous waste (code CER 190905).
After changing the resins, check and clean the valve seal from
any resin residue, change the o-ring if necessary.
Insert the o-ring back in its place and tighten the valve to the
tank.
Re-connect the water softener and rinse the resins (see para-
graph 7.1) Check that there are no leaks.
11) MAINTENANCE FOR THE USER
Maintenance for the user only consists in refilling the brine
tank periodically with sodium chloride (NaCl, common salt)
(fig. 13). If salt is lacking, the water softener will not be able
to soften the water.
ATTENTION! Use refined salt for cooking, even in tablets, su-
itable for water softeners. Keep the brine tank cap closed, to
avoid that dust or small animals, insects or other substances
may fall inside and compromise the equipment and the water.
The user is responsible for refilling the brine tank with
salt, so we suggest checking the salt levels in the container
periodically. Use a container to insert salt, to avoid propping
the salt package on the brine tank.
12) IMPROPER USE OF THE EQUIPMENT
This equipment has been created to soften drinking water for
domestic and industrial use. The equipment must not be used
for any other purpose and it must not be modified or tampered
with in any way. Any other use than the one specified in this
manual is improper and therefore dangerous. The manufactu-
rer cannot be considered responsible for any damage caused
by improper, mistaken or illogical use of the equipment.
