9.5. BALANCE
The balance setting adjusts the volume balance between the
right and left ear. There are 7 level settings:
• Center
• Right 1
• Right 2
• Max right
• Max left
• Left 2
• Left 1
NOTE: Changing the balance from center to a specific earcup
does not increase the maximum output to that earcup.
9.6. MICROPHONE VOLUME
Increases or decreases the speech microphone volume from
the headset to the external audio device.
• 1 (low)
• 2
• 3 (default)
• 4
• 5 (high)
NOTE: This menu option may not be available on every
ComTac model.
NOTE: This feature may be impacted by the exernal audio
device.
9.7. MICROPHONE SENSITIVITY
You can adjust the microphone sensitivity to work with a
variety of connections such as aircraft intercom systems and
cell phones.
• Low (default) - simulate dynamic microphone, such as
two-way radios.
• Medium - simulate electret microphone, such as cell
phones.
• High - simulate carbon microphone, such as aircraft
intercom systems.
NOTE: This menu option may not be available on every
ComTac model.
9.8. BATTERY STATUS
Current status of the battery is measured and presented to the
user.
9.9. BATTERY TYPE
Set the type of battery used on the ComTac™ VIII Headset.
Battery type is used for battery life estimations.
• Alkaline - Sets the battery mode to alkaline battery.
• Lithium - Sets the battery mode to Lithium battery.
• Rechargeable NiMH - Sets the battery mode to
rechargeable battery.
9.10. AUTOMATIC POWER OFF
The headset is equipped with an auto shut-off to save battery
life if the user forgot to power off after use. This function can
be turned off in the menu.
• ON - The ComTac™ VIII Headset automatically turns off
after 4 hours of the last button push. Pressing a control
button resets the 4-hour timer.
• OFF - The ComTac™ VIII Headset does not turn off
automatically.
9.11. WARNING SIGNALS
Enables or disables the different audio messages/warning
signals heard in the headset.
• ON - Enables all warning signals.
• OFF - Disable all warning signals.
9.12. SOUNDSCAPE
• On
• Off
Soundscape enables automatic changes to product settings
dependent on the user environment.
When Soundscape is set to On, the following functions are
activated:
• Increased radio volume in high continuous noise (when
radio volume is set to auto).
• Increased voice prompt volume in high continuous noise.
• Reduced radio static/hiss between transmissions.
9.13. LANGUAGE
Adjusts the ghost voice language between all installed
languages. Available languages in the headset are ("English"
- "Spanish" - "French" - "German").
9.14. FACTORY RESET
Resets the ComTac™ VIII Headset to the original settings.
