8.6 PROBLEM - FRONT & END TRIMMING DEFECTS
CAUTION
The machine leaves the factory set to automatically trim
the edges on both sides of the board. It needs no later
adjustment. (See section 5.8)
If for some reason the machine does not trim the edges
correctly at the beginning or end of the board, it must be
readjusted by authorised technical service personnel.
Other likely causes
1 - The end trimmer blade B (Fig. 85) does not cut the edge A
as it enters, because the edge has bent against the board and
does not enter into the shears.
Solutions
1 - The excess front edge is too long. Cut it as explained in
section 5.2.3.
2 - Reduce the pressure of the board against the intake guide
by reducing the opening angle of the feeder, as explained in
section 5.3.1.
8.7 PROBLEM - EDGE TRIMMING DEFECTS
CAUTION
The quality of the trimming depends directly on the board
characteristics. If the board is concave, convex, or its ed-
ges are not at 90°, do not attempt to correct the machine
settings, since you will not obtain better results.
Likely causes
1 - Significant defects in the edge trimming.
2 - Slight corrections in the trimming.
3 - The edge has a series of differences along the entire tri-
mmed edge.
Solutions
1 - Make sure that the counters (B and E) (Fig. 86), the bits
and the trimmer copiers are in the positions indicated in the
table for the edge thickness that is being banded, and for
the type of finish you wish to obtain. If this is not the case,
correct them as indicated in sections 5.6.1 and 5.6.2.
2 - The trimming may be improved by small readjustments
made to the positions of the bits and/or copiers, following
the instructions in table (Fig. 87). A copy of this table may
be found on the machine itself, located next to the trimming
unit.
3 - Clean the edge of the 2 copiers A (Fig. 88).
