User Instructions MSA Harnesses P/N 10083963 CSA CLASS L 3.0 DESCRIPTION CSA CLASE L CSA CLASSE L The intended purpose of each element in the harness is given in sections 3.1 through 3.2. ATTACHMENT ELEMENTS (D-RINGS) 3.1.1 FALL ARREST ATTACHMENT (QTY 1) Also called back D-Ring [CSA class A], present on all MSA Harnesses. For fall arrest. Use only the back D-Ring for connection to the other elements of a personal fall arrest system. The back D-Ring may also be used as an attachment element for travel restriction. 3.1.2 HIP ATTACHMENTS (QTY 2, IF PRESENT) Also called hip D-Rings. For restraint (work positioning and travel restriction) [CSA class P]. Never use the hip D-Rings for fall arrest or for climbing Designed for use with fall restrict protection. User Instructions MSA Harnesses P/N 10083963 3.1.5 BACK D WITH INTEGRAL SHOCK ABSORBER (QTY 1, IF PRESENT) Integral shock absorbers are sewn into the harness with a D-Ring on both ends of the pouch. If the shock absorber shows any signs of activation DO NOT USE THE HARNESS. 3.1.6 STERNAL ATTACHMENT (QTY 1,IF PRESENT) Also called chest attachments. Sternal attachments may be used as an alternative fall arrest attachment in applications where the dorsal attachment is determined to be inappropriate by a competent person,and where there is no chance to fall in a direction other than feet first. The sternal attachment element should be used only when the likely fall distance is not greater than 2 ft (0.6 m). The sternal attachment may also be used for travel restraint, or rescue for controlled descent, lifting and lowering (by hoisting), and for ladder climbing protection systems. 3.1.7 LANYARD PARKING ATTACHMENT (QTY 1,IF PRESENT) Allows snaphook of lanyard to be stowed when not in use. - Página 7 User Instructions MSA Harnesses P/N 10083963 3.4.4 RFID CHIP (IF PRESENT) Provides a unique alpha numeric code for use in inventory control and inspection tracking. 4.0 SELECTION AND APPLICATIONS 4.1 PURPOSE OF HARNESS An MSA full body harness is a primary component of a personal fall arrest system. It may also be used for positioning and travel restriction when the appropriate attachments are present. The harness straps are arranged to contain the torso and distribute the forces of fall arrest to the thighs, chest, and shoulders of the wearer. 4.2 PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS The harness is designed for one user whose weight, including clothing, tools, and other user-borne objects is less than the capacity shown on product label. Users with muscular, skeletal, or other physical conditions that could reduce the ability to withstand fall-arrest shock loads or prolonged suspension should consult a physician before using. Pregnant women and minors must never use the harness. More frequent formal inspections are CHEMICAL RESISTANCE required in environments with chemical hazards, heat and corrosion. Los subsistemas de conexión deben ser los apropiados para... - Página 10 User Instructions MSA Harnesses P/N 10083963 ANCHORAGES AND ANCHORAGE CONNECTORS Personal fall arrest system anchorages and connectors must be capable of supporting a static load, applied in all directions permitted by the system, of at least: (a) 3,600 lbf (16 kN) when certified as defined by ANSI Z359.1 (b) 5,000 lbf (22.2 kN) when uncertified Anchor structures and anchorage connecting devices for personal fall arrest systems must have a minimum static strength of 5000 lbf (22.2 kN) in all directions of load permitted by the system; or they must be part of a complete system for fall arrest that is designed , installed and used under the supervision of a Qualified Person and maintain a safety factor of at least two (2) as required by OSHA. When more than one person is attached to an anchor, the minimum anchor strength must be multiplied by the number of personal fall arrest systems attached. PLANNING THE USE OF SYSTEMS RESCUE AND EVACUATION The user must have a rescue plan and the means at hand to implement it. The plan must take into account equipment and special training necessary to effect prompt rescue under all foreseeable conditions. For confined space rescue, see OSHA regulation 1910.146 and ANSI Z117.1. FREE FALL DISTANCE, TOTAL FALL DISTANCE AND SYSTEM ELONGATION Do not exceed free fall distance specified by applicable regulations and standards. When using a shock absorbing lanyard, keep the amount of slack between the anchorage/anchorage connector and the harness/waist belt at a minimum to reduce the free fall distance and the impact force to the user. 1 Free fall distance. Limited to 6 ft. (1.8 m) by OSHA and ANSI Z359.13. Limited to 6ft (1.8m) or 12ft (3.6m) depending on energy absorbing lanyard by ANSI. Limited to 5 ft. Rigger Harness: Thigh and sub-pelvic straps cannot be unbuckled. Step into straps one leg at a time with padded sub-pelvic straps behind legs. Slide harness up your body and pass front D-ring. Pass front D-Ring over head so that shoulder straps rest on shoulders. 7.1.3. Adjust harness to position sternal (chest) D-Ring and chest strap (if present) at sternum. (See figure 9.) Crossover & Rigger Harness: Adjust position of sternal (front) D-Ring before donning. Push webbing through slots to position front D-Ring at sternum. 7.1.4. Adjust sliding Back D-ring (Present on all harnesses) to center, between shoulder blades. (see figure 10.) 7.1.5. Buckle the thigh straps. Reach between legs and wrap appropriate strap around each thigh. Ensure that straps are not twisted or crossed. Adjust for a snug comfortable fit and fasten the buckle. (see figure 11.) Rigger Harness: Adjust thigh straps for snug, comfortable fit. CAUTION Do not cross thigh straps (i.e. fasten right thigh strap around left thigh and vice verse). Ensure that thigh straps are not twisted and lay flat against thighs.

Failure to follow this warning can cause serious personal injury or death. - Página 16 User Instructions MSA Harnesses P/N 10083963 8.0 CARE, MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE 8.1 CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS Clean the harness with a solution of water and mild laundry detergent. Dry hardware with a clean cloth and hang harness to air dry. Do not speed dry with heat. Excessive accumulation of dirt, paint, or other foreign matter may prevent proper function of the harness and, in severe cases, weaken the webbing. To clean Secure-Fit Buckles and Quick Connect Buckles remove foreign material with a cotton swab. In dusty environments: fine particles can prevent proper function of the buckle. Dip the buckle in clean water to flush fine particles. Remove excess water and allow to air dry. Questions concerning harness conditions and cleaning should be directed to MSA. 8.2 MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE Equipment which is damaged or in need of maintenance must be tagged “UNUSABLE” and removed from service. Corrective maintenance (other than cleaning) and repair, such as replacement of elements, must be performed by the MSA factory. Do not attempt field repairs. For harnesses that have Secure-Fit Buckles or Quick Connect Buckles, a light penetrating oil can be applied to the locking tabs to ensure smooth operation. Wipe any excess oil off with a clean rag. 8.3 STORAGE Store the harness in a cool, dry and clean place out of direct sunlight. Avoid areas where heat, moisture, light, oil, and chemicals or their vapors or other degrading elements may be present. Equipment which is damaged or in need of maintenance should not be stored in the same area as usable equipment. Heavily soiled, wet, or otherwise contaminated equipment should be properly maintained (e.g. dried and cleaned) prior to storage. Prior to using equipment which has been stored for long periods of time, a Formal Inspection should be performed by a competent person. User Instructions MSA Harnesses P/N 10083963 9.0 MARKINGS AND LABELS All the previous labels must be present, legible and securely attached to the harness. The labels are located in the label pack (See figure 13). Replacement label packs are available. Contact MSA for ordering information. 10.0 INSPECTION 10.1 INSPECTION FREQUENCY Inspect the harness before each use. Harnesses with a CSA logo on the label have a fall-arrest force indicator. Check the fall-arrest force indicator before each use. All stitches through the fold must be intact. (See figure 13) ! WARNING Broken or pulled stitches in the fall arrest indicator show that the harness has experienced fall arrest force or degradation due to environmental factors. -

- Página 24 Garantía expresa: MSA garantiza que el producto suministrado permanecerá libre de defectos mecánicos o mano de obra defectuosa durante un período de un (1) año a partir de la fecha de su primera utilización o bien, dieciocho (18) meses a partir de la fecha de envío, lo que ocurra primero, siempre y cuando se le dé mantenimiento y se use de conformidad con las instrucciones y/o recomendaciones de MSA. Las piezas de reposición y las reparaciones se garantizan por un período de noventa (90) días a partir de la fecha de reparación del producto o de la venta de la pieza de reposición, lo que ocurra primero. Si se efectuaran reparaciones o modificaciones al producto por terceros que no pertenezcan al personal de servicio autorizado de MSA, o si el reclamo contra la garantía fuera consecuencia del uso indebido del producto, se eximirá a MSA de todas las obligaciones resultantes de la presente garantía. Ningún agente, empleado o representante de MSA puede obligar a MSA a realizar afirmación, representación o modificación alguna a la presente garantía con relación a los productos vendidos bajo este contrato.
