Estimated Vascular age

"A man is as old as his artery" Thomas Sydenham, a 17th century
physician.
From the measured stiffness index (SI), PulseTrace PCA2 computes
the estimated vascular age depending on which normal range data
set has been selected. By reversing the equation, PulseTrace PCA2
estimates the vascular age from SI. In the example above:
VA =9.174 x SI – 33.936
The range is calculated from the 95% confidence interval of the
regression line:
Lower limit: 9.174 x SI – 40.156
Upper limit: 9.174 x SI – 27.706
As these data are only valid on the age range of the studied
population the estimated vascular age is limited to between 18 and
75 years. The VA will be displayed as < 18 yrs and >75 yrs when
calculated out of range. The estimated vascular age can only be
displayed when the patient's age is between 18 and 75, otherwise
n.a. (for not applicable) will be displayed.
It should be noted that small changes to the SI value have a
significant impact on VA and VA values should be treated cautiously.
The factory default setting is to have the Vascular Age display turned
off. Please refer to page 11.
