1. With the meter off, wipe the
test strip slot with a cotton
swab lightly moistened with
water.
2. Open the drum door: Hold the
meter in your right hand and
place the thumb of your left
hand into the recess below the
drum door. Then pull the drum
door with your fingers slightly
to the front and lift it up.
3. Wipe the measuring window
and the area surrounding it
with a cotton swab lightly
moistened with water.
4. Dry the meter with a soft cloth
or gauze and make sure that
no solution is seen in any
openings.
5. Remove any fluff or lint that
may remain.
6. Close the drum door until it
snaps.
7. Perform a control test (see
Chapter 2, "Performing a
Control Test.").
