Safety instructions for electric tube freezer
WARNING
Read all the safety notes, instructions, illustrations and technical data which
come with this power tool. Failure to heed the following instructions can lead to
electric shock, fi re and/or severe injuries.
Keep all safety notes and instructions for the future.
● Do not use the electrical device if it is damaged. There is a danger of accident.
● Only connect the electrical device of protection class I to a socket/extension
lead with a functioning protective contact. There is a danger of electric shock.
● In case of thermal decomposition of the refrigerant, (e.g. fi re) highly noxious
and corrosive vapours are generated! There is a risk of intoxication.
● Wear gloves suitable against cold temperatures. There is a danger of injury
when touching cold deep-freezer heads.
● Allow deep-freezer heads to thaw out at the end of work. Frozen deep-freezer
heads cannot be removed. There is a danger of injury when touching cold deep-
freezer heads.
● Never bend, crush, twist or move the hoses under tensile stress. The hoses
will be damaged and refrigerant will leak.
● Never open up the refrigerant circuit. The apparatus contains the refrigerant
R-404 in a closed circuit. Should refrigerant leak out in the event of defective
apparatus (e.g. breakage of a refrigerant hose, then the following must be taken
into consideration:
– After inhale: Get those affected into the fresh air and let them rest. Use arti-
fi cial respiration if breathing stops. Call a physician.
– After contact with the skin: Thaw out or wash off affected portions of skin
with warm water.
– After contact with eyes:
–
– After contact with eyes:
Rinse out thoroughly for 10 minutes with clean water.
Call a physician.
– After swallowing: Do not induce regurgitation. Wash out mount with water,
drink a glass of water. Call a physician.
– Notice for physician: Do not administer any drugs of the Ephedrine/adrenalin
group.
● Observe safety tips for refrigeration systems. There is a risk of injury.
● Dispose of the apparatus and the refrigerant properly. Observe the national
regulations.
● Refrigerant may not be allowed to get into sewers, basements or work pits.
Refrigerant vapours may create a suffocating atmosphere.
● Never let the electrical device operate unattended. Switch off the electrical
device during longer work breaks, pull out the mains plug/battery and
remove the deep-freezer heads from the pipe if necessary. Electrical devices
can cause hazards which lead to material damage or injury when left unattended.
● Children and persons who, due to their physical, sensory or mental abilities
or lack of experience and knowledge are unable to operate the electrical
device safely may not use this electrical device without supervision or
instruction by a responsible person. Otherwise there is a risk of operating
errors and injuries.
● Only allow trained persons to use the electrical device. Apprentices may only
operate the electrical device when they are older than 16, when this is necessary
for their training and under the supervision of a trained operative.
● Check the power cable of the electrical device and the extension leads
regularly for damage. Have these renewed by qualifi ed experts or an authorised
REMS customer service workshop in case of damage.
● Only use approved and appropriately marked extension leads with a suffi -
cient cable cross-section. Use extension leads up to a length of 10 m with cable
cross-section 1.5 mm², from 10 – 30 m with cable cross-section 2.5 mm².

against standard test procedures and can be used by way of comparison with
another device. The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can also
be used as a preliminary evaluation of the exposure.
CAUTION
CAUTION
The indicated weighted effective value of acceleration can differ during opera-
tion from the indicated value, dependent on the manner in which the device is
used. Dependent upon the actual conditions of use (periodic duty) it may be
necessary to establish safety precautions for the protection of the operator.
2. Preperations for Use
2.1. Electrical Connection
WARNING
Note the mains voltage! Before connecting the REMS Frigo 2, check whether
voltage on the rating plate matches the mains voltage. Only connect REMS
Frigo 2 of protection class to a socket/extension lead with a functioning protec-
tive contact. On building sites, in a wet environment, indoors and outdoors or
under similar installation conditions, only operate the REMS Frigo 2 on the
mains with a fault current protection switch (FI switch) which interrupts the
power supply as soon as the leakage current to earth exceeds 30 mA for 200
ms.
2.2. Preparing the pipe
Deep freezing occurs by means of a transfer of refrigeration from the deep-
freezer heads to the outer surface of the tubing. To ensure good contact
transition, paint, rust or other pollutants should be removed from the tubing.
Deformed tubes cannot be frozen up.
The water (or other liquid) in the tubing can only freeze up if there is no fl ow,
i.e. pumps should be turned off, water removal should be avoided. Cool off
water in the heating tubes to ambient temperature before deep freezing.
2.3. Mounting of the deep freeze heads
With tube sizes ¼ – 1" resp. 15 – 35 mm the deep-freezer heads are placed
directly against the tube (Figure 1). Fasten deep-freezer heads with the tightening
strap (Figure 2). Shortest freezing times will be achieved when the hose
connector at the deep-freezer head is pointing upwards (Figure 2).
