Changing Audible Alarm Settings
If a critical error occurs (such as loss of internal communication), an error code appears in the LCD and an
audible alarm sounds. This alarm will continue until silenced. See Error and Informational Messages on
page 10-6 for more information.

Adjusting the Volume

You can change the volume on the alarm or the pulse sound. If the pulse volume is set to Off, no pulse tone
will be heard. You cannot turn the alarm volume completely off. The alarm volume should be set at a level
that is appropriate for the environment in which it will be used.
Note—
The Pulse volume setting does not change the pitch of the pulse tone; the pitch is controlled by the
SpO
value.

To change the volume of the alarm or the pulse sound:

From the Line List display, press the System soft key. The System Settings screen appears.

Press the OK button until the Alarms or Pulse setting is highlighted.

Use the Up and Down buttons to adjust the volume.
Press the Save → Main soft key to save the volume settings and return to the Line List display.

Silencing the Alarm

When an audible alarm sounds, you can silence the active alarm or you can silence all alarms, as follows:
To silence the active alarm, press the Alarm Silence button located on the top of the front panel. The
alarm will be silent for two minutes and the red Alarm Indicator light will flash slowly.
To silence the active alarm, as well as all other alarms for two minutes, press and hold the Alarm
Silence button for three seconds.When all alarms have been silenced, the Alarm Indicator light
flashes rapidly.
