Faults
Malfunction
The device cannot be switched on and
the display remains dark or flickers.
The device does not react to any
key command.
Malfunctions are displayed during opera-
tion in the notes line
(information line).
After clicking on the touchscreen
with the stylus, the mouse pointer is
not shown at the same position.
Operation is no longer possible using
the stylus and the touchscreen.
The software error message "No con-
nection to control unit" appears.

The capacity of the internal battery is not sufficient to start the device. Con-
nect the external power pack or the diagnostic cable to the vehicle (ignition
"on"), in order to make the device ready to operate and to charge the battery.
The device must be put into a defined condition, for this
press keys and # for approx. 3 seconds.
Only switch the device off in this way, if it no longer reacts to any keys being
pressed. This switching off procedure can in some cases lead to a loss of da-
ta on the hard disk, if it is carried out during regular operation. Data recor-
ded during this diagnostic application may need to be re-entered.
Follow the instructions on the LCD display.
You must carry out an adjustment to the touchscreen. In the start bar un-
der "Programs » System Control" call up the menu "DDC". Select "Touch-
screen". After clicking on the "Touchscreen" field, you can carry out the ad-
justment. Do not adjust the other parameters in this program.
To avoid errors caused by parallax, you must position yourself with your eyes perpendi-
cular to the calibration points. Click on the calibration points as accurately as possible.
The touchscreen adjustment menu offers max. 20 calibration points, which you must
click on consecutively. This enables a very precise adjustment to be made.
At the end of the adjustment, you can check the calibration. Click with the stylus on
various positions on the LCD display and compare them with the mouse pointer.
It may be that the touchscreen is completely out of calibration. Con-
nect a USB mouse to the KTS 670 and carry out the touchscreen ad-
justment. The adjustment is described in the Section above.
In spite of correctly connecting the diagnostic cable to the vehicle, in a small number of
cases the software error message
appears. The following causes are possible:

The control unit in the vehicle is not supported by the software.
The diagnostic cable is incorrectly connected or defective.
The internal KTS 670 fuse F1 is defective. See Chapter 5.5.
