Locate pump spigot around service port entry and clamp on Body DT.3168-1.
Fit Dial Indicator Gauge DT.3054-10 into Body DT.3168-1 so that it touches the "toggle arm" with the other end of the "toggle arm" touching the top of the Indicator Pin DT.3168-3
located in the service port.
Ensure there is a small pre-load on the indicator gauge.
Turn crankshaft to set engine opposite to its normal static timing position. Ensure the indicator pin is fully down to its shoulder into the entry port.
Re-adjust the dial test indicator gauge in the DT.3168-1 Body so that the arms of the "toggle" touch the Gauge and indicator pin and apply a pre-load of 1mm. on the indicator gauge.
Zero dial test indicator gauge.
Turn crankshaft slowly in the normal direction of rotation to TDC. Check that the amount of lift on
the indicator gauge corresponds to the fi gure stamped on the load lever plate, or on side of pump,
allowing for the 1mm. pre-load on the minor scale.
If timing needs adjusting, turn the pump until dial indicator reading corresponds to fi gure stamped
on load lever plate ,or on side of pump. Remember to allow for the 1mm. pre-load on the minor scale.
Dial test indicator gauge should indicate the specifi ed fi gure +/-0.04mm.

Piston Travel Adaptor
The DT.3004 Piston Travel Adaptor has been developed for use on early PSA XUD engines.
The DT.3004 Travel Adaptor is required to accurately determine the piston position of these engines when setting their injection pump timing.
These engines require the pump timing to be set at a position before TDC. Therefore DT.3004 is essential to measure the piston height and is used in conjunction with the injection pump
timing tools.
