3.6. Checking the starter battery

Never place the battery close to a flame or fire.
Use only insulated tools.
Never use sulphuric acid or acid water to top up the electrolyte level.
Danger
Ensure that the battery (fig. A - No. 13) « - » terminal is connected to the circuit correctly.

4. Using the generator set

Before using the equipment, it is essential to fully understand the controls and operations.
To stop the generating set in an emergency, press the emergency stop button.
Warning
4.1. Starting-up
Check the oil level (see § Checking the oil level).
Open the fuel tap (fig. A - no. 7 & fig. C - no. 1).
Turn the MODYS key (fig A - no. 10) to "ON": all the MODYS pilot lamps flash briefly.
Press the MODYS "START" button once (fig. A - no. 9): after a few seconds, the generating set starts up.
The MODYS automatically performs 5 start-up attempts. If the generating set fails to start up after these 5 attempts, see
§ Troubleshooting.
4.2. Operation
Once the generating set has reached a steady running speed (approx. 3 mins):
Check that the circuit breakers (fig. A - no. 11) are pushed down. Press if necessary .
Connect the appliances that are to be used to the electrical sockets (fig. A - no. 12) of the generating set.
The working hours counter (fig. A - no. 15) shows the number of hours that the generating set has worked.

4.3. Switching off

Disconnect the electrical sockets (fig. A - no. 12) allowing the engine to run idle for 1 or 2 minutes.
Turn the MODYS key (fig A - no. 10) to "OFF" : The generating set stops.
Close the fuel tap (fig. A - no. 7 & fig. C - no. 1).
Always ensure suitable ventilation for the generating set.
Even after shut down, the engine continues to dissipate heat.
Warning

5. Safety features

5.1. Circuit breaker

The set's electrical circuit is protected by one or more magnetothermal, differential or thermal cut-out switches. In the event of an
overload and/or short circuit, the supply of electrical energy may be cut.
If necessary, replace the circuit breakers in the generating set with circuit breakers with identical nominal ratings and specifications.
5.2. Oil cut-out
If there is no oil in the engine sump or if the oil pressure is low, the oil safety mechanism automatically stops the engine to prevent any
damage.
If this occurs, check the engine oil level and top it up if necessary before looking for any other cause of the problem.
