During troubleshooting, you may be asked to provide information about the XRP Reader (e.g. software version). For instruction on how to display
Using the CONFiG XRP software for troubleshooting the XRP Reader
diagnostic information, see
Possible solution
If the XRP Reader and antenna are laid out on the ground and can read a tag, the original mounting
location of the antenna is probably causing the problem. For example, if the wires inside the antenna
were parallel to a metal rail this could have been causing interference or blocking the signal from the
tag.
Remount the antenna in a new position. If this solution doesn't work, see Step 11.
When the XRP Reader and antenna are
powered ON, connect the XRP Reader to
a spare COM port on your laptop using
the RS232-DB9 communications cable.
Double-click the CONFiG XRP icon on the
PC desktop to launch CONFiG XRP. (If
required, click the Configuration tab.)
In the Connection Options field in the top
right-hand corner of the screen, select the
COM port that the XRP Reader is
connected to, then click Connect.
Click the Diagnostics tab.
The Tuning Stage value should be
between 6-20 and ideally between 6-13.
If it is over 20, the antenna is probably
being affected by magnetic or electrical
interference. See Tip 6.
