3.3 Functional Safety

NOTICE
We recommend using the evaluation unit PSU02 (Position Supervisor Unit) of the Kübler com-
pany as a safe evaluation unit and for safety functions such as e.g. limit switches, early door
opening and unintended car movement (UCM).

3.3.1 Operating Modes

Possible states during measuring system operation are normal operation and locked mode.

3.3.2 Functional Specification

In order to fulfill various position-dependent safety functions according to EN 81-20, the measur-
ing system must be connected to a suitable evaluation unit (e.g. Ants PSU02). This evaluation
unit must meet the requirements for electrical safety devices according to EN81-20 and comply
with the protocol specification, see the manual.
After powering, the device is in normal operation. The sensor provides position data every 2 ms.
What the measuring system does not fulfill
The following is not provided by the measuring system; this must be ensured by external
devices:

Evaluation unit required
The measuring system is designed for the integration in safety-re-
lated functions. For this purpose, it requires a superordinate safe
evaluation unit or elevator control.
