3 INSTALLATION

3.1 Power supply

The MC-360B is a portable unit powered by 6 R-14 type rechargeable NiCd
batteries. To charge batteries, user should use the AL-11 accessory power adapter.
The MC-360B can also be powered externally through the AL-11 power
adapter, by plugging the side input of the unit (see Figure 1).
WARNING: When installing batteries, pay special care to their polarity, as
shown at bottom of the battery holder.
That switch on the right hand side of the unit allows the two following power
supply modes to be selected:
INT
POSITION
CHG
INT (INTernal supply through batteries) . In this position, the
MC-360B is not connected to the AL-11 power adapter; the unit
operates through the inside inserted batteries.
CHG BATT (NiCd battery charge) . On the contrary, if unit is connected to
the AL-11 power adapter -and NiCd batteries are inserted in the
battery holder then the internal battery charge circuit is started on
automatically: a constant 180 mA current is supplied to batteries.
The indicator front panel [13] shows that charge is being carried out; it must be
alight while charge is running.
During a charge operation, ON/OFF control [12] of the MC-360B is disabled.
