5 MAINTENANCE
This part of the manual describes the maintenance procedures and the location
of faults.
5.1
Instructions for returning by mail
The instruments sent to be repaired or calibrated within or outside the period of
guarantee should be accompanied by the following information: Name of the company,
name of the person to be contacted, address, telephone number, proof of purchase (in
under guarantee) and description of the problem encountered or service required.
5.2
Method of maintenance
The normal maintenance to be carried out by the user consists of cleaning the
case and changing the battery. All other operations should be performed by authorised
persons or by staff who are specialists in the servicing of instruments.
5.2.1 Cleaning the cover
To clean the cover, remove the battery from its housing.
Do not use scented hydrocarbons or chlorized solvents. Such products may
attack the plastics used in the construction of the cover.
The cover should be cleaned by means of a light solution of detergent and
water applied with a soft cloth. Dry thoroughly before using the system again.
5.2.2 Changing the batteries
To replace the battery unit, it is necessary to carry out the following steps:
•
Completely disconnect the equipment.
•
Open the battery cover by loosening the screw that holds it in place.
•
Substitute the batteries with another CB-18 unit.
Ensure that the batteries are connected with the corrent polarity, as indicated on
the base of the battery compartment.
