That switch on the left hand of the unit allows the following power supply mode
to be selected:
POSITION EXT.
In this position, unit may be power supplied externally, whether through the
AL-11 power adapter -side connector- of from a car cigarette lighter through the AA-12
optional accessory cable.

3.2 Installation and start-up

The unit is prepared as a portable equipment.
Check battery or MC-360B power supply (see 3.1 power supply). Afterwards,
you can turn on the unit.
