Annex 1: Configuring the CPU

Annex 1: Configuring the CPU
In general, to configure the system, you need:
Computer with the development software properly installed (CoDeSys V2.3).
Braided communications cable
Ingesys IC3 system with processing module
In order to establish an Ethernet connection between a computer and CPU, the Ingesys IC3 must connect to the
units with a Ethernet cable. Also keep in mind:
You need the PLC´s and computer´s IP address
Make sure that both units are in the same subnet.
The IP address and subnet mask are made up of four number fields with values from 0 to 255 (8 bits). Via the
subnet mask, you set how many bits from the IP address are dedicated to the subnet, and how many to the unit´s
address.
For example, an IP address 192.168.2.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 is indicating that the unit is in subnet
192.168.2 with one address 1.
That the units are configured by default. This configuration includes an IP with a value of 90.0.0.1
for the Ethernet port 1, and 90.0.0.2 for Ethernet port 2. If a subnet mask, the default value is
255.255.255.0.
To manage the IP configuration and subnet on the PLC, use the PLC´s to send commands. For this, you have two
commands: IPGET to obtain the current configuration, and IPSET to establish a set of specific values.
Once the IP address and the subnet mask on the PLC is set, check the computer´s address to check:
The two units are part of the same subnet.
Both units have different IP addresses.
When the systems have been configured, you can check the existing connection between the units via the
execution of the "Ping" command from the computer. To do this, open the "Run" window on the Start menu in
Windows. On the command line write "ping IP_PLC" where IP_PLC are the four numerical fields separated by
points.
If the connection is correct, a window with information is displayed with the PLC responses. If no response is
received, check:
If the PLC is on.
That the IP addresses and subnet masks are correct.
That the computer's network card is active.
That the network cable is properly connected to both units.
