7. Putting into operation

Always carry out a visual inspec-
tion before using your lawnmower
to ensure that cutting tool, retaining
bolts and entire cutting unit are
not worn or damaged. Worn or
damaged cutting tools must always
be replaced to ensure that your
lawnmower is not out of balance
(Maintenance, Care and Storage).
Only mow your lawn in daylight or
when your lawn is lit by ample
artificial lighting. Avoid using your
lawnmower on wet grass if pos-
sible. Always ensure you have
a sturdy stance when working on
slopes and inclines. Push the lawn-
mower at walking pace. Take par-
ticular care when turning the lawn-
mower or pulling it towards you.
Always stop the cutting tool before
tipping your lawnmower to move
it over a surface other than grass
and when moving your lawn-
mower to and from the area of
lawn you are planning to mow.
Never use your lawnmower if the
protection devices or protective
grilles are damaged, or if the
protection devices (e. g. baffle
plates and / or grass catcher) have
been removed.
Do not change the controller setting
of the motor and do not overturn
the controller.

Warning! The motor is
A
supplied without oil in the
crankcase. You must therefore fill
the crankcase of the motor up to
the upper marking of the dipstick
with motor oil 10 W 30 before
using your lawnmower for the first
time. The quantity of oil for the
Briggs & Stratton motor is approx.
0.6 litres.
Check the oil level in the motor
each time before mowing your

Press the safety handle (Figure 3
item 2) to release the motor
lawn. To do this, position the lawn-
mower so that it is horizontal and
remove the dipstick. The oil level on
the dipstick must be between the
Min (ADD) and Max (Full) mark-
ings. We recommend fuelling your
lawnmower with two-star petrol.
Warning! Petrol is extreme-
A
ly flammable. Only store
petrol in containers intended for
this purpose. Only pour petrol into
the tank when outdoors and do not
smoke while filling the tank.
Fill the tank before starting the
motor. Do not open the fuel cap or
pour in petrol when the motor is
running or when the lawnmower is
hot. If petrol overflows from the
tank, do not attempt to start the
motor. Instead, move the lawn-
mower away from the area where
you spilt the petrol. Do not attempt
to start the motor until the petrol
vapours have evaporated.
If you need to empty the fuel tank,
this must be done outdoors.
For safety reasons, always install
a new fuel cap and other tank caps
if they are damaged.
To prevent injury due to burns keep
the motor/exhaust and the area
around the fuel tank free of grass,
leaves and escaping grease (oil).
Keep your hands and feet away
from the internal housing and grass
ejection chute when the motor is
running.
Always wear sturdy work shoes
and long trousers when mowing.
Never mow your lawn when bare-
foot or when wearing only light-
weight sandals.
Setting the Cutting Height
You can adjust the cutting height
using the central adjusting bolt
brake. Pull out the starter handle
at the motor and attach the
starter cable in the bracket on
the frame from below (Figure 1,
item 3).
(Figure 4, item 1). The cutting
height is infinitely variable. The cut-
ting height set can be read off the
display in 5 mm graduations.
Warning! Only adjust the
A
cutting height when the
motor is switched off. When adjust-
ing the cutting height ensure that
the cutting blades do not touch the
ground when mowing if the terrain
is uneven.
Starting the Motor with
the Starter Cable
Start or operate the starter switch
with care according to the manu-
facturer's instructions. Ensure that
your feet are far enough away
from the cutting tool.
Stand your lawnmower on an even
surface.
Check the terrain where you will
be using your lawnmower and
remove all obstacles and objects,
which could get caught and then
ejected.
If the motor is cold, press the
.
primer a few times before start-
ing the motor. You do not need
to press the primer if the motor
is already warm.
Push the throttle lever (Figure A,
item 9) forwards.
Press down the safety handle
.
(Figure 3, item 2) towards the
guide handle while simultaneous-
ly pulling the starter cable.
Gently pull the starter handle
(Figure 3, item 3) until the starter
engages. Then start the motor by
quickly pulling the starter handle.
Slowly release the starter handle
and guide it back by hand.
