to .02-.03inches (0.60-0.80ram).
Electrode
Gasolineand its vaporsare extremelyflammableand explosive.Fire
or explosioncancause severeburnsor death.

Keepgasolineawayfrom sparks,openflames,pilot lights,heat,
and other ignitionsources.
•
Checkfuel lines,tank,cap, and fittings frequentlyfor cracks
or leaks.Replaceif necessary.See a Searsor otherqualified
servicedealerto replacefuel line.
•
Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drainthe fuel tankor close the fuel
shut-offvalve.
•
Replacement p artsmust be the sameand installedin the same
positionas the originalparts.
•
If fuel spills,wait untilit evaporatesbeforestartingengine.
To Drainthe Fuel:
1.
Locatethe fuel filter,which is routedon the right sideof the
engine betweenthe fueltank and the engine.See Figure28.

Checkthat thespark plug washeris in good conditionand thread
the sparkplug in by handto preventcross-threading.
5.
Afterthe sparkplug is seated,tightenwith a spark plugwrenchto
compressthe washer.
NOTE:Wheninstalling a newsparkplug,tighten1/2-turn afterthe spark
plugseatsto compress the washer.Whenreinstalling a usedsparkplug,
tighten1/8-to 1/4-turn afterthe sparkplugseatsto compress the washer.
Thespark plug mustbe tightenedsecurely. A loosespark plug can
becomevery hotand can damagethe engine.

Slide the clampup thefuel line.

Pullthe fuel line freefrom the filterand placetheopen end of the
line intoan approvedcontainerto drain the fuel.
To Replace the Fuel Filter:
1.
Before replacing thefuelfilter, d rainthefueltankor closethefuelshut-
off valve. O therwise, fuelcanleakoutandcause a fireorexplosion.
2.
Usepliersto squeezetabs on the clamps,thenslidethe clamps
awayfrom the fuel filter.Twistand pull the fuel linesoff of the fuel
filter.Referto Figure28.
3.
Checkthe fuel linesforcracks or leaks.Replaceif necessary.
4.
Replace the fuelfilterwithan originalequipmentreplacement filter.
5.
Securethefuel lineswith the clamps.
