Storage
Whenstoringthetractorfor extendedperiods,disconnectthe negative
batterycable. It is not necessaryto removethe battery.
All batteriesdischargeduringstorage.Keepthe exteriorof the battery
clean, especiallythe top. A dirty batterywill dischargemorerapidly.
The batterymustbe storedwith a full charge.A dischargedbatterycan
freezesoonerthan a chargedbattery.A fully chargedbatterywill store
longerin coldtemperatures than hot. Referto Figure30.
Recharge batterywhenever thespecificgravityreading on a temperature

Jump Starting
Failureto use this startingprocedurecan causesparking, and the
gasesin the batteryto explode.
1.
Attachtheend of the redjumpercableto the positiveterminal(+)
of the chargedbattery.

TIRE MAINTENANCE
Checkthe tireair pressurebeforeeachuse. Inflationpressureof the
reartires is importantfor stabilitywhilethe moweris in operation. If
the tire diameteris notequal betweenthe two tires, the mowerwill pull
to one side. Keepthe tires inflatedto the recommended pressures.
Improperinflationwill shortenthe tire servicelife. Seethe tire sidewall
for properinflationpressures.Observethe followingguidelines:
•
Donot inflatea tireabovethe maximumpressureshownon the
sidewallof the tire.
•
Donot reinflate a tire thathasbeen runflat or seriouslyunder
inflated. Havea qualifiedtiremechanicinspect a nd servicethe tire.
•
Balanceinflation pressurebetweenthe rear tires to help maintain
straighttravel(seetire sidewall for properinflationpressure).
•
Keepthevalve caps tightenedto preventair pressureloss.
USING THE DECK WASH SYSTEM
Whenusingthe deck washsystem,neverengagethe deck fromany
positionotherthan theoperator'sseat of the tractor.Donot usean
assistantor engagedeck in the presenceof anybystanders.
Usethe DeckWash Systemto rinsegrass clippingsfrom the deck's
undersideand preventthe buildupof corrosivechemicals.Complete
the followingstepsafter each mowing:
