Toadjustthe front-to-rearangleof the control levers:
1.
Loosenthe nuts on the controllevermountingbolts, leavingthe
bottomone fairly snug. Thebottomhole is slotted,allowingthe
controlleverto pivoton the top bolt.
2.
Movecontrolleverto the desiredangle and tightenthe nuts to
28-34ft-lbs.
NOTE: Inthe neutralposition,the handlesof the controlleversshould
be alignedwith approximately a one inchgap betweenthe tips.Widen
thegap by addingshimwashersto the top mountingbolt betweenthe
controlleverand the mountingblock.
3.
Checkthe resultsof anyadjustmentsto the conditionsdescribed
above.Repeatany adjustmentprocedures as requireduntilall
conditionsare met.
Leveling
the Mower
Deck
Whencorrectlyadjustedthe mowerdeck shouldbe levelsideto side,
and the frontof the deck shouldbe approximately 1/4"lowerthan the
rear of deck.
NOTE:Checkthetractor'stirepressurebeforeperforming anydeck
levelingadjustments. S eethe tiresidewallforproperinflationpressures.

Parkthe moweron a flat pavedsurface,engagethe parking
brake,shutoff the engine,removethe keyfrom the ignition
switch,disconnectthe spark plug wires.
2.
Usingthe deck lift pedal,positionthe mowingdeck intothe
highestmowingposition.
3.
Measureblade-to-groundheightat the front tip of the rightblade.
Toobtainan accuratemeasure,align bladesin parallelwith
mowercenterline,(i.e. front to back).
4.
Measureblade-to-groundheightat the front tip of the left blade.
Be sureto measureat the bladetip with the bladesarrangedin
properposition.
5.
Witha 3/4" wrenchloosenthe lowerjam nutof the left side of the
lift link. Toadjustthe sideof the deck up or downturn the upper
jam nutclockwise(to raise)or counterclockwise(to lower)a few
turns.See Figure34.

Measurethe blade-to-ground heightat the rightrear bladetip.
Again be sureto measureat the bladetip at the rear of the right
blade whenalignedalongthe mowercenterline.The blade-to-
ground heightat the rear of the bladetip shouldbe approximately
1/4"higherthanthe front tip. This is referredto as bladepitch.The
same heightdifferenceshouldbe truefor the left blade,measured
front and back.
7. Tochangethepitch (frontto rear),loosenthe lowernuts on the rear
Lift Links.With a few turns,adjustclockwise(to raise)or counter-
clockwise(tolower)theuppernutsof the rearLift Links.Oncethe
deck is adjusted,retighten lowernuts.
8.
The finaladjustmentwouldbe to set the TrailingLink byadjusting
the jam nutson the threadedlink. Loosenthejam nuts and tighten
the inner nutto achievethe correctlengthand belttension.See
Figure34.

Inmanycasesit will be necessary to adjustdeck heightusingboth
eyeboltadjustments and pitchadjustment t o achievethecorrect
blade-to-ground heights.If youremember thatthefront rightblade
tip adjustment i sfixedand youleveltothat height,adjustingthe
deckswillbe simplified.
Adjusting
the Belt Tension
Totighten or loosenthe tensionon the belt, tightenor loosenthejam
nuts on the U-rod,see Figure34, untila ten-poundpull with a spring
scale deflectsthe beltabout 1/2".
Brakes
The moweris equippedwith internalgear/pawlbrakesand will not
normallyrequiremaintenance. I f they are not workingproperly,call
