Safety instructions:
Follow the operating instructions
Every operation on this unit requires a full knowledge and observation of these operating instructions.
The unit is only intended for the use described.
The pressure-reducing valve must be used only as described and must be operated from an instructed
person or from qualified staff only.
Maintenance
The unit must be given a thorough overhaul / service every 6 years. Maintenance of the unit must only
be performed by authorized persons. If the unit is stored for more than 6 years, it must be given a
general overhaul before putting into service.
The unit is tagged with a maintenance sticker. On this sticker the date for the next general overhaul is
indicated.
The unit is designed for a service life of 15 years from the date of commissioning.
The unit must be disinfected before returning for repair.
Please disinfect following repair.
Use only original components.
Do not use oil or grease fittings.
Liability for function and damage
Liability for the functioning of the unit is transferred in all cases to the owner or operator, if the date for
the general overhaul indicated on the maintenance sticker is not respected, if the unit is improperly
serviced or repaired by persons other than service personnel or if it is used in a way other than for the
intended purpose.
The responsibility for a continuous gas supply, for the use of the proper gas and the correct gas
dosage depending on application as well as the adjustment of the corresponding correct pressure is in
either case with the operator.
BOWA shall bear no liability for damage caused by non-observance of these instructions.
The terms of warranty and liability specified in the conditions of sale and delivery of BOWA shall not be
extended by these instructions.
Handling gases
When the device is used in enclosed rooms, care must be taken to ensure that the gas cannot flow out
in an uncontrolled manner. The rooms must be effectively ventilated to prevent the creation of a
choking, fire promoting or otherwise hazardous atmosphere according to the type of gas.
Where necessary, gas warning devices must be used or installed, which activate an alarm on the
creation of a hazardous atmosphere.
The operator must be acquainted with the physical characteristics of the relevant gases.
Purpose of application:
The pressure-reducing valve serves for the withdrawal of argon gas from a high pressure gas cylinder.
The cylinder pressure can be read from the high pressure gauge. This enables the user to have a
continuous view of the contents (gas quantity) of the gas cylinder.
The working pressure is factory pre-set to 3 bar and cannot be adjusted by the user without undue
manipulation. On the bottom outlet port is a plastic hose with a quick coupling to connect the
consumer. The second lateral outlet connector is sealed with at blanking screw.

Bringing into service:
1. Remove all protecting caps from connectors. Keep these for possible transport or storage.
2. Check that all oxygen fittings are free from oil and grease, pay attention that hands are also free of
oil and grease.
3. Check the pressure-reducing valve for damages (gasket, pressure gauge).
4. Fix the pressure-reducing valve to the medical gas cylinder with the screw connection
(hand-fastening)
5. Connect the unit to the quick coupler at the end of the hose.
6. Connect the electronic pressure sensor to the device (if applicable).
7. Open the cylinder valve with the hand wheel slowly (use both hands) and check on the high
pressure gauge that the medical gas cylinder has sufficient pressure.
8. Check the equipment for gas leakages (e.g. with leakage spray).
Check whether the set working pressure remains stable. If this is not the case and the pressure
slowly but constantly increases, the pressure reducing valve must be immediately taken out of
service and repaired by the manufacturer or an appropriately authorized agent.
