Prior to commissioning

Carry out the following steps in preparation for the initial start-up:
1. Make sure the motor controller is correctly mounted.
2. Check the electrical installation (connecting cable, pin allocation).
Note
The CMMO-ST is equipped at the plant with a active DHCP server (Dynamic Host Config-
uration Protocol).
• In order to avoid malfunctions in the network, observe the instructions in the con-
troller user documentation before inserting the CMMO-ST into a network.
Warning
Loss of the safety function
A missing safety function can cause severe and irreversible injury, e.g. through accident-
al movement of the connected actuator.
Incorrect wiring or use of an external component which was not selected to correspond
to the safety category lead to loss of the safety function.
• Conduct a risk assessment for your application and select the components and their
interconnections to correspond to the safety category.
• Only operate the CMMO-ST with safety function STO after all safety measures have
been set up.
• Validate the safety functions to conclude commissioning.

Performance test, validation

A missing or incorrectly functioning safety function can cause severe and irreversible
injury, e.g. through accidental movement of the connected actuator.
• The STO function must be validated after the installation and after any modification
to the installation. This validation is to be documented and must be repeated at
regular intervals.
The operational capability of the safety device is to be checked at adequate intervals. Selecting the
type and time interval of the check is the responsibility of the operator. The check is to be conducted so
the flawless functioning of the safety device in interaction with all the components can be verified.
Pattern:
1. Switch off each channel individually and check the reaction of the motor and the acknowledgment
contact.
2. Then switch off both channels and check the reaction.
