Using MAGIC WATCH
MAGIC WATCH is activated automatically when you shift into reverse gear
with the ignition on or the engine running.
As soon as an obstacle comes into the range of the sensors, a tone sounds
at regular intervals and the monitor displays a graph with four coloured bars
which display the distance between the vehicle and the obstacle.
As you reverse, the sequence of beeps changes according to the zone you
are in, thus indicating the distance (see the "Performing a functional test"
chapter on page 44).
The monitor display also alters as the zones change. As you approach the
obstacle, additional coloured bars appear. The colour of the bars changes
from green to yellow to red as you move from one zone to another.
Be very careful the first time you use the system, until you are familiar with
the various sequences of beeps and the monitor display.
Caution!
Stop the vehicle immediately and investigate the situation (getting out
if necessary), if the following happens while you are reversing:
The device first shows an obstacle while you drive in reverse,
and the beeps speed up as normal (i.e. from slow to medium).
Suddenly the beeping sound slows down, or no obstacle is
shown at all.
This means that the original obstacle is in the blind spot of the
sensors (construction-related characteristic), and it is possible
to hit it.
Caution!
If loads or objects on the vehicle (e.g. bicycle racks) protrude over
the close area of 0.4 m, there is a danger of accidents. An obstacle
can collide with the load or the object before it is detected by the
sensors in the close area and MAGIC WATCH gives a stop
warning (see a, page 6).
